Who does God defend? Who does He want us to speak up for? How can we care about those God cares about? How can we be a voice, a little help, or be a friend to those who need one?

Can we comprehend the pain in the world? Do we dare to? It’s better to be ignored or just stay present in my own little world. Besides, we often get overwhelmed hearing a sad story when our kids come home after school and feel we have no time to stop to care about the homeless guy in town with our merciless schedules. Family is priority and important but we can make them part of our faith journey in wanting to help people needing a hand. Yet often, we are running on treadmills of life spinning out of control. Take kids to soccer, grocery store after, do the taxes, then mow the lawn and finish writing that proposal for that client and paper for the grad program all in three hours before you have to cook dinner. Take a breath we think. Stop look at God. Be still oh my soul. What is He saying? I often can feel guilty when I walk past another homeless guy rather than take the time to really see them. What’s their name and story? I looked at a number of them and when I do I see them I begin to see something amazing at their value and how Jesus cares and knows their name. Some are really hungry for God and want change from their addictions and freedom from their loneliness.

God pleads Seek Me and my Kingdom and all these things we fret about may be added. We are on adrenal overhaul with family dramas playing out sometimes and endless deadlines. We turn the other cheek cause we are immersed in our own stories. At the end of the day, we turn on the news out of mindless habit and watch it in a cold stare as if the trauma was all normal. We don’t have much energy enough to muster at the end of a day to hear or to process what we hear, any of the desperate cries of those starving or surviving devastating war. World hunger is just too much a need to handle! But do we have to go it alone? Or is it to God who lives inside us and will He provide the energy or time to do something? Helping others in need often helps us in life energy and graditude! And why not take the kids with to meet and play with refugee family kids next door? Or go clean an elderly persons yard for free? Kids love raking leaves as long as they can jump in them a few times. Let them jump! They could learn work that helps vulnerable people and diversity and be a friend to perhaps a lonely kid and have fun too! I’m not talking about guilt motivation making it religion and burning yourself out. We all have seasons and you may be the one needing help at this point. Accept it and know your day will come to give too! But maybe it’s too much!

Yes, we switch off. We’ve become desensitized cause it’s just too many traumas and monstrous needs. It’s called the effects of media overload creating compassion fatigue. Too much disaster, war, earthquakes, abused children, starvation! No we didn’t start the fire so why try to put it out. In fact my firefighting friend Bobby told me today, you don’t try to put a bushfire out. You just stop its fuel. You become a master Gardner cutting bush around the fire so it has nothing to feed on. Then you douse the burnt area and let that area burn out to save the rest. We don’t need to put out fires just tend the fields around it to bring a stop to things one person at a time. God will get the fire out.

Though, do we need to get overloaded or even care? We sigh and dig our own holes of isolation. Take care of our own our families and countries and deal with own crisis in our rich nation (some western politicians may say. ) But we miss the blessing of community and other cultures of rich heritage reflecting to us more of God’s creative heart. And maybe one day those we help will give to us when we are downcast and in need. Maybe not, but what a gift to give to God our time and skills as a worship offering! It can get our mind off of our own pity parties when we can give to others chose to think in gratitude of what we have, all riches in Christ Jesus!

Just my life matters and our gain, selfishness will pay off we hear from powerful institutions in our nations. But God said give and it will come back to you pressed down shaken together and running over. If we follow that philosophy for our lives will they be blessed? Many of our nations are blessed and have a rich heritage because they opened their doors to diversity and allowed skillful and hard workers came to our shores. Isaiah talks about the wealth of the nations will come to you. ( Isaiah60) But we are meant to bless Israel not curse and Israel will be a blessing to all nations too. Not just themselves. And now believers are the chosen generation so what are we doing as believers to bless other nations within our nation. The book of Isaiah actually the whole Bible has so many references to the blessings of many nations. Lady liberty can tell you in New York. We give up the blessing when we refuse the nations or cease to help the hungry, downtrodden and war torn. “Rather] is this not the fast which I choose, To undo the bonds of wickedness, To tear to pieces the ropes of the yoke, To let the oppressed go free And break apart every [enslaving] yoke? “Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not to hide yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood? “Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your healing (restoration, new life) will quickly spring forth; Your righteousness will go before you [leading you to peace and prosperity], The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard. “Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; You will cry for help, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you take away from your midst the yoke [of oppression], The finger pointed in scorn [toward the oppressed or the godly], and [every form of] wicked (sinful, unjust) speech, And if you offer yourself to [assist] the hungry And satisfy the need of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday. “And the LORD will continually guide you, And satisfy your soul in scorched and dry places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail. “And your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up and restore the age-old foundations [of buildings that have been laid waste]; You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”ISAIAH‬ ‭58:6-12‬ ‭AMP‬‬ We also one day will worship with every tribe nation and tongue the Lamb. Are we getting ready here?

We heal people of broken nations, become the repairer of breech and restore them and whole nations when we start with one eventually together! And find joy in it! What a privilege God gives us! If we hide our talents underground and don’t invest we will be left with nothing Jesus said. Isolation and greed and fear does nothing to produce life, and life to the fullest. Giving brings us new life and healing.

What does God care about? Many times it speaks about in scripture God being compassionate slow to anger and abounding in love…. But to whom? Compassion means compressed passion. He is completely concerned and on His throne able to change whole nations, not standing aloof in some corner of the Universe. We become agnostic in our thinking when we become numb with needs sometimes, but He the God of the big Universe who creates stars every second ( big fiery infernos of intense light) is able to make wars cease and bend the spear. Be still and know He is God! ( Psalm 46). We often sit judging others in our sometimes comfort-oriented complacent lives when He is calling us to ride with His redirection power of strength and HE is not the least bit overwhelmed or getting tired( Isaiah 40). He has compassion on the outcast, one who no one cares, who are they in your world? I will restore you to health And I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the LORD, ‘Because they have called you an outcast, saying: “It is Zion; no one cares for her.”‘ “Thus says the LORD, ‘Behold, I will restore the fortunes of the tents of Jacob And have compassion on his dwelling places; And the city will be rebuilt on its ruin, “Jeremiah 30:17-22. God is slow to anger, abounding in love, compassionate (Psalm 103). He relents for those who fear Him. We understand that but who else did he show compassion to and are we defending the right causes and bring His healing, care and life too!

Gods compassion includes providing for refugees. I understand, some European nations did take too many refugees lately and others aren’t sharing the load. I get that. Yet on closed doors by saying no to all new people outright keep the drug cartels and traffickers out, but this also blocks freedom for honest people seeking a safe haven, and it closes us off to kills desperate people in danger seeking asylum too. Sometimes the wheat needs to stand at the border with the tears to be sifted through. We take little responsibility as majority of refugees live in more poor nations than us that can hardly hold them so why are we complaining. Lebanon, Turkey, and Jordan took most in recently. Jordan population increased by 20 percent from refugees in the last 10 years. We pale in comparison. This is a shouldered burden a bit in Europe compatibly, yet Germany compassionately had open arms, so did Sweden, yet closed doors mostly in America. Just saying…we could take more and monitor as well.

But how do we treat those refugees? Should we care? Does God? .. Hebrews 13: 1 Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. Or more to the point of His heart, ” Leviticus 19:34 The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Quite greedy and callous many could say nations who are not receiving refugees. They could say these closed nations to refugees plight are possibly allowing by neglect poor nations in to crumble already with dying economies under the heavy load in impoverished nations. We don’t want blood on our hands and other conflicts to ensue by making boiling pots in already strained resourced Nations. Jordan has no oil for wealth like some of its neighbors. This breeds the thinking of terrorists saying the West doesn’t care so let’s take over these already war torn nations. It’s not too fair. And creates more refugees; a vicious cycle of not caring about refugees keeps the darkness of war get darker like the creation of Isis it may feed. Yes, we can close the doors to everyone looking foreign and haggard quite frankly because we can’t take another refugee on our watery border. Or across our land border; never mind they risked their lives to get here escaping violence, persecution, and war! My prayer is also for violence and war to end there and all refugees to know personally their Creator through Jesus Christ one day. Who better than us and our nations receiving them to show the outcast war torn His love. And refugees are running and turning to Him in droves as He becomes their healer and restorer where in some of these nations they never could here the message of love, truth and hope for their futures!

Hard lines hard stances, me first! You other criminal migrants which who most of you are, maybe never; go somewhere else. Maybe we closed our heart from fear of terrorism. Yet it is proven most refugees with the screening aren’t the ones to commit these terrorist acts cause they are trying to just survive. The proven truth is migrants do not commit most acts of terrorism. Most terrorism in last years in the USA are USA bread and born. Crime will happen with all communities and with immigrants it’s not exempt due to less opportunity for some of them to thrive.

We can change crime by helping employment even. I’ve been helping near the overloaded Zatari refugee camp with Syrian refugees in Jordan. They are people who want to survive and live and raise their kids and heal even open to the Living God. 10 years previous I taught English to Iraqi kids in a school in Jordan after the war in Iraq and the population with all the refugees Syrian and Iraqi increased the population now by 20 percent and their are not as much work open to hold them but no rich nation would take them like Saudi or Emirates or Usa. Jordan has open arms and so how hospitable Jordan is they suffer because of rich countries aloofness.

But frankly it is pure xenophobia ( fear of the foreigner) and propaganda that brings more unrealistic panic and make monsters out of immigrants. Most Western nations this is their calling and gift of God to the world to be hospitable to the immigrant. We can’t throw away our inheritance because of fear! They have so much to teach us the nations and many work hard and have many skills. How can we help them find work, learn the language, find a church? You be the bridge. Faith to help the Samaritan needs to arise my friends. We can’t go on the other side of the street, nose in air. We can do it! (And yes you can teach them to spell immigrants right!)

What is your passion and person you love helping? Wha

Maybe you’ll pray for refugees but they are not your passion like they are a passion for me. You have another role to play in Body of Christ. Should we defend the right people or cause and why? I’ll just live my good moral life and not stir the boat of refugees, or any boat involving pain, and people will see the light in me. Well even Budda did that. What distinguishes is as the Church, the Bride of Christ reflecting Him to those who love God in Christ and follow His cause?

Who does God see and befriend?

We become numb at times to the needs around the world, even our communities, or perhaps our own household. But what does God see, how does He react to all this? What is the cause He upholds and defends? How does He bring justice? Does He care about racism? Or is that just one political parties focus or is it what Jesus want us to fight for love, equality, justice for all? And to be a voice for minorities? That’s all our responsibility from all parties who love Jesus! What lives matter more or less? What does it mean to let justice roll down like the waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream? ( Amos 5:24). Does He care about all the needs and injustices? Who does He defend? It says He lives with compassion which comes up in sometimes the most craziest and unlikely places.

Where does God show compressed passion and how can we follow Him?

He showed it in Hosea to His wayward prostituting Israel; all my compassion is aroused, what can I do with your rejection of Me? ” God committed everything to His people but they gave Him the back of their hand and yet He still pursued them, He grieved over them, yet showed compassion, compressed passion as my pastor puts it in the original meaning of the text. (Hosea 11:8-9. ) He showed compassion on the afflicted ( Isaiah 49:15). He has compassion on all He’s made ( Psalm 145:9. ) He shows compassion to those who don’t deserve it to blot out our sin (Psalm 51:1). Jesus showed compassion to a prostitute turning to follow Him and weeping to give Him her whole life; He showed compassion to a despised Samaritan ( even a despised foreigner) beat up with violence left forgotten on the road. He also showed compassion to a prodigal son returning home by His Father running hugging kissing throwing a party for that wayward squandering but repentant Son. He showed compassion forgiving an adulteress and saving her from an angry pious crowd about to be stoned dragged out of bed ( but where us the man who was also taking part? “When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion and pity for them, because they were dispirited and distressed, like sheep without a shepherd.” MATTHEW‬ ‭9 )He showed compassion to them all!

We often get caught up in our own defences, arguing our point, fighting for our own families which is good, speaking up for our favorite anything. Maybe we often want to do something to help others in need but don’t know how to help. or what does it matter its too overwhelming so I must just keep and protect my own and stay in my bubble. You can research how to help, investigate opportunities, or invent your own to tutor English to the immigrant next door. All this loving our own is wonderful and its not all bad but where should our focus be? Are we defending the right people in the long run? Are we seeking first Gods Kingdom before our homeland? His Kingdom involves every person nation tongue! Patriotism is great so long as God’s Kingdom is first and we can love others in the national identity God born us into but not think we are better cause that isn’t humility. Different people doing things different don’t mean they are less worthy or human, or a lesser culture.

How can we love God, defend who He defends, and what is on His heart?.

Everything that goes against His Kingdom, is unjust, brings death, violence, “I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding closely to Him; for He is your life [your good life, your abundant life, your fulfillment] and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD promised (swore) to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.””DEUTERONOMY‬ ‭30:19-20‬ ‭AMP‬‬ He desires to give life abundantly and says the enemy comes to steal kill and destroy but He has come that we may have LIFE in abundance! ( John 10:10).

How do welcome GOD, love what HE loves and defend what HE defends?

We gotta know Him more, His heart. “Let Him who boasts boast in that He understands and knows me, who will devote themselves to be close to Me?” ( Jeremiah 9:24). We feel like we’d go mad to care about everything, but He wants to use us to care about some things. BUT HE also gives us focus of things of His passion that our our own. He can enlarge our hearts and the load falls on Him because we are not Savior but can lead others to the Life Restorer and Healer. I’m not talking about passionate opinion like-with politics. and judging who we hate their opinions, but issues of justice and defending on what GOD defends and what breaks HIS HEART. Ask Him what is worth your energy and calling to defend. If God wants to defend the weak and powerless poor and afflicted, those without a voice and calls us to defend them; shouldn’t we? Why waste our time defending powerful institutions all the time like our political parties, or our companies efficiency, or our universities who are fallable or powerful people like Presidents, celebrities, judges decisions, or even your own opinion on everything? Don’t get me wrong. We need to be voices in and to our governments and need people with integrity to influence and implement life promoting godly bills and laws so stand up and speak up. But maybe our energy should follow with deeds and love too. I know I’ve done this before so talking to self but does it deserve our energy as people will vote who they will vote for and are set in their ways and our opinions may change over time so is fighting worth it? Is it our pride worth defending or rather get the focus on the voiceless who need defence? I’m not talking about arguing cause that-goes nowhere but advocating and informing and exposing lies about…or building relationships with those who need love, compassion, care, help, the poor, the broken, the fearful, the vulnerable.

Maybe He’s calling you and wants to speak through you? Who will go?

Who will speak for the refugee running from war not wanting to leave their culture but desperately trekking miles over snake-infested jungles braving stormy seas risking their lives on tiny rafts for their children to survive and lead a semi-normal safe life free from violence or persecution? Who will befriend them as many are lonely, prejudiced, and different from those who are locals? Who will listen to a minority group in your nations story who needs a listening understanding loving ear because they felt bullied and ostracized by majority groups? Will you get to know someone from a different cultural ethnic or racial background from you and love them to break down walls? Who will call out to speak for those in incredibly scary and broken places who suffered in war, violence, abuse, rape, sexual assault? Maybe it’s you and I know it’s me. Who will be a voice for the first people of our nations who suffered so much injustice as we took the land, the Maori, Aboriginal, Navijo, Lenape, KhoI San, Noma? Who can listen to their stories and reach out to love them? Maybe God is calling you!

Who will speak for the cries of the unborn, of thost enslaved in human trafficking, orphans, grieving, mentally ill, abused kids, of those homeless on your corner? You can’t do everything but everyone can reach one. Hear Him wanting to speak up, loving, giving, freeing, defending! and He can use you the wounded healer, the teacher, the friend, the lawyer, the nurse, the counselor in your sphere of influence!

Who will care about the elderly or visit the sick or help the unemployed who is a hard worker find a job? Is it you? Yes all these things are on the God of the Universes heart! And He does not grow tired and weary and one or more of these things and people He WILL lay on your heart if you let Him. He will strengthen you to not care about just your family. And use you as a family unit. And have much joy and energy to spare.

So we don’t go crazy with needs we become needy we must find our niche. There we can build His kingdom and righteousness and all these other things will be taken care of. We are not to judge what others do as thinking your passion is bigger and more important. But we can pray for other working to defend issues ALSO on Gods heart. It all matters to Him loving the least and speaking out at injustice. Maybe somehow it means approaching governments to hear the voiceless, or praying for government, or bringing the issues to churches cause no one is, ( church in different nations and communities can be blind to some injustices or just uninformed) . Or are you able to teach entrepreneurship to youth in disadvantaged neighborhoods where opportunities are less because of good education and resources. We need opportunities for economic justice as well you savvy business friends.

Maybe its helping a neighbor s son give a good word for someone who is unemployed, or just simply loving and helping the unheard lonely in friendship, or a little finances. We could help legally with advocacy, health, teaching English or paying a month of tuition to get a job for a skilled foreign worker. Maybe we could cook meals for grieving and sick people or house for a time exchange students or missionaries for awhile? Or foster a child or unaccompanied minor refugee? How can we be the Bridge of bringing Gods healing to the poor, afflicted, weak, voiceless? What is your role to play? Maybe you are not skilled in listening or talking and you are good with your hands and can fix a single mom who is down on finances fix her washer, or car, or house? Or clean an elderly ladies house or pull weeds from her garden or paint her decaying fence? Think outside your religious box.

What is your passion in Gods Kingdom advocating for the least of these, being a friend to those who need one or don’t have hope? What about tutoring a disatvantaged gifted kid in math as they job shadow your engineering profession or mentoring it coaching them for free? Maybe we will stop fighting about petty things like who soccer team is better, or whose political party, or overprotecting our isolated me first lives and not losing our life gain the KINGDOM or what church is better and be busy about saving and healing souls and families, nations, community life speak to my selfishness as well. The harvest is plentiful and the needs are out there. who will be His voice, because we are HIs hands, reflect HIS heart and can defend the least of these in different ways and gifts!

‭‭Whats on your radar? What need is on your heart or person and how can you use your gifts with your time? What and who does God want you to focus on. We fear maybe be driven One of my favorites lines of my favorite movie, EverAfter, I thought if I cared about something I’d have to care about everything and go stark raving mad! But now I’ve found my purpose and I feel this incredible freedom. It’s a project inspired by you” ( about a wavering prince Henry who is running from responsibility of the throne til he meets and falls in love with Danielle. )

. God our Beloved can help us find our purpose that brings joy and freedom and fulfillment! We can support and pray for other ministries. What little thing that will make big differences? NOTHING is wasted in GODS Kingdom! DO it in and with Jesus as you take your heart to Him. You have no excuses you are not too old, sick, young, gift-less in an old age home, you can write a card to a grieving family or a get well card. You can share love of JESUS with aged and dying or just be a friend to the lonely there. you know whats on your heart.

. JESUS followers expected Him as there leader to abolish injustice by taking-bout the ROMANS and reigning as King. Are we expecting Him to make our worlds so safe and comfortable we are missing those HE LOVES and defends? Are we speaking more if the powerful, our own selfish interests, or reaching our world getting our hands dirty? Maybe we do a bit of all those things! I’m taught to love comfort as growing up in America but it is so different for other people and nations I’ve travelled and lived. There is nothing wrong with the little enjoyments in life but is He first? His Kingdom first? We must ask ourselves daily for opportunities. Do we value and cherish and those HE loves and upholds like the downtrodden not cared for? Evil takes over when good men do and say nothing. Jesus was radical and loving and strong and not overly political if at all. He challenged strongly the Pharisees, loved the downtrodden, ministered to sinners, rescued, taught the disciples in love even when they wanted him to smash opposition, and went to the cross to die to win

He existed in the form of God, yet he gave no thought to seizing equality with God as his supreme prize. Instead he emptied himself of his outward glory by reducing himself to the form of a lowly servant. He became human! He humbled himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death—a criminal’s death by crucifixion! Because of that obedience, God exalted him and multiplied his greatness! He has now been given the greatest of all names! The authority of the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence! Everything and everyone will one day submit to this name—in the heavenly realm, in the earthly realm, and in the demonic realm. And every tongue will proclaim in every language: “Jesus Christ is Lord Yahweh,” bringing glory and honor to God, his Father! My beloved ones, just like you’ve always listened to everything I’ve taught you in the past, I’m asking you now to keep following my instructions as though I were right there with you. Now you must continue to make this new life fully manifested as you live in the holy awe of God—which brings you trembling into his presence. God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him.

For then you will be seen as innocent, faultless, and pure children of God, even though you live in the midst of a brutal and perverse culture. For you will appear among them as shining lights in the universe, offering them the words of eternal life. I haven’t labored among you for nothing, for your lives are the fruit of my ministry and will be my glorious boast at the unveiling of Christ!”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:6-13, 15-16‬ ‭TPT

As we shine this light and humility, 1 Peter 3:15 says but honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you. And in all these acts follow, Philippians 1:16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. Also maybe God has called you in this confusing season of tolerance for everything with no boundaries at all to defend His Word and truth which is so needed as His Word is neglected, twisted, and ignored. He wants to use you to speak up and teach in love. Go for it with truth and honor them with love as people God Loves worth knowing truth. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. And to speak out against injustice and evil is also the truth we can defend and must not fear to do it in a caring way. We can expose evil. Ephesians 5:11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. . Psalm 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?Titus 1:9 He must be devoted to the trustworthy message we teach. Then he can use these accurate teachings to encourage people and correct those who oppose the word.

Speak up, defend, love, help, be a friend, go to the weak!

The Frenemy in the House

I say to myself, “If only I could fly away from all of this! If only I could run away to the place of rest and peace. I could run far away where no one could find me, escaping to a wilderness retreat.” Pause in his presence I will hurry off to hide in the higher place, into my shelter, safe from this raging storm and tempest.

It wasn’t an enemy who taunted me. If it was my enemy, filled with pride and hatred, then I could have endured it. I would have just run away. But it was you, my intimate friend—one like a brother to me. It was you, my advisor, the companion I walked with and worked with! We once had sweet fellowship with each other. We worshiped in unity as one, celebrating together with God’s people.I was betrayed by my friend, though I lived in peace with him. While he was stretching out his hand of friendship, he was secretly breaking every promise he had ever made to me!So here’s what I’ve learned through it all: Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord, and measureless grace will strengthen you.”‭‭Psalms‬ ‭55:7-8, 12-14, 20, 22‬ ‭TPT‬‬

That sums it ups when we feel betrayed by a friend or brother. We want to split; it’s unbearable. We thought we could trust our friend, our sister, our father, our mother but we couldn’t. And…It cut like a knife to our heart or we just became numb to tolerate. …And it’s hard to work out. I expected them to be on my side, to understand me. I can understand this treatment from a distant relative or jealous colleague but -you we walked through so much together my best bud like a brother to me. We had high hopes for our friendship but you really let me down so I had to shut down any expectations. You justify your pain to me, “You don’t know the hurt they caused: they lied about me, gossiped, or slandered behind my back and turned people against me. ” We had sweet fellowship before when I thought I knew you but the fall was hard.

So what do we do now? We hit an impasse, a wall. Perhaps we close up like a flower to not get hurt again. Maybe we run away and leave their church or ministry or life altogether. Maybe we simply put up being around them cause they are part of the family. But we can’t get away from this colleague friend or brother so what do we do? We tried to be peacemaker but maybe they did not listen, and we ignored their bad behavior in silence but that made them louder. It grew worse. We don’t know what to do and their attitude seems to affect ours greatly. So where do we go from here? Wait for it to cool down. Maybe pray for them or about the situation, but they still have a choice to let it go or try to make your life miserable.

So maybe in our desperate prayers maybe we can ask God what do you want me to do? Prayer is a start. Forgiving the injustice of it all 7 Times 7 and remember God understands! At an early age his parents yelled at him for going away to be about His Fathers business teaching in the temple. They did not understand him. Jesus was not accepted in his hometown and he was even the Son of God.

Joseph’s brothers wanted to kill him for jealousy and there was a great act of painful reconciliation when his brothers came miles from home to the land Joseph was sold to begging for food and water. Little did they know the slave their own betrayed brother Joseph was governor of the land at that point. But Joseph was grieved; he was ticked and angry He tested them at first. Maybe you are fuming and I have no idea what they did to you. Maybe they wanted you dead or it felt like that. Joseph says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Who knows what perspective can do? God can use offenses to work for good for you and others even making you more like Jesus in love and forgiveness.

But if Jesus went through misunderstanding and strife with family and those in his hometown should we expect to be exempt from it? And he was perfect! He sympathized with weakness yet without sin. I was not there, but Jesus was and he carries our pain and sorrow and injustice to the cross. He also forgives us and do we have a right to hold a grudge or claim entitlement. Yes forgiveness is different then fully trusting again or putting ourself in abusive relationship. I’m not talking about that. But Jesus died for your offenses and theirs. Even if they did 80 percent wrong but we still did the other 20. And we can forgive because we are forgiven.

God what can I do to make my part right, to own up to it? Could it be even in our attitude not in what we said or did. So we ask God where we are going wrong. We can admit, “I’m sorry I was wrong,“can even be our starting point. “I did not want to hurt you but my actions did and you reacted. Yet it did hurt me what you said then I was wrong and I closed up and pushed you away. ” We can start by praying for them, the situation even if we feel no words will help. Those closest to us often take out the most pain on us even if it is about something else they are going through. Anger often gets dumped sideways on another person unrelated. We can take out our frustration on them due to expectations or fear. Are you despondent, what if this happens again? Let’s entrust our hearts to Jesus and ask for soft forgiving hearts and thick skin not to take it so personal. But close family and close friends can know how to particularly twist the things to hurt us cause they just know how to push those buttons.

What insecurity in that or thing does Jesus want to heal to make us not react? It could be the weight of guilt, they heap guilt if we don’t do what they expect or ask. Jesus took that guilt away so maybe you need to realize more freedom. Or it could be gossip or criticism that wounded you. Let Jesus stand for you and take the constructive part of it. Possibly you need to let their idols fall to break their expectations. Or your own of them.

At times, you say they yell and you can’t take it. You don’t have to stay there in that place forever. You can acknowledge their feelings and address concern and perhaps come back later to discuss it when they are calm. Maybe you need to get someone who can act as an objective observer and sort it out with them. Matthew speaks of this when no one is listening. Or if you have fear to move forward. You could be are so mad yourself or them that you can’t begin to take a step. Get counsel from God and from others, ask for accountability. Go forward and take a step toward relationship again. Trust Daddy God who can make a way.

Be a forgiving fabulous friend and family member that let’s go and possibly forgetting of offenses not worried about foreboding fights in the future because He’s got it all covered.

Life is too short. Old stubborn grudges must die. You only got your friends and family. Carpe diem! We are free when we forgive and we free others. Jesus left your sins behind you leave theirs. You are a new creation too new to let pain poison you. Let it go NOW!

With our God, friend and family relationships we find our most fulfillment. Maybe a new day is waiting for you to go deeper, heal more, and be unconditional love to those closest yet farthest away due to hurt. God can heal and restore.

God is into restoring and relationship rebuilding. Look to Him. Seek advice from those who have gone before us. Wait on Him if nothing is working or the other side is too stubborn. You be soft. Forgive. Want to make amends. Be open. Forgive angry words. Let’s forgive. Let’s trust God. Let’s not be afraid to love and whatever thing comes again. Let’s pray for breakthrough for each other and understanding. It’s never too late!

How do we see the refugee, the foreigner, the immigrant, the sojourner’s journey? Are their plight just another hot topic to separate us, to be debated between our political parties, or a burdensome issue to sweep under the carpet? That is the news we hear on the ground. But maybe they are to you a man or woman or child with a name and actual people to be seen with needs and dreams? Maybe we are numb because there are just too many refugees to care. Are they as valuable as the natural born citizen in your world anyway? But what does God say about them? Do you note them as the possible terrorist, the thieves of our jobs, the illegal alien draining our economies? Yes they can be you say. But maybe we need to see first the foreigner as the people our nations were built on in the past generations. Are we desensitized because there are just too many and the war dragged on too long?

The world is moving and migrating to other nations, to cities, escaping poverty, war, injustice. Who could blame them? We would go to, run if we had the chance too. Many are pursuing peace for their families, a way to earn a living or possibly a dream to pursue. We all want that for our families. Are we judging their motives too much? We heard of their journeys and plights, maybe we know a few personally. What is God’s heart and our response? It is the largest crisis since World War 2. 65 million refugees spread out to mainly other unstable nations and many in our own nations.”The crisis spawned by 65 million refugees created a “test case” for Christians, Haas insisted.

“I believe God’s got us in a test, and he’s saying: ‘Work it out. … It’s not the world you want; it’s the world you have. And I’ve given you the resources, the treasure, the talent. And I want you to invest in these places. Don’t recede; dive in.”

The test is whether Christians will give people throughout the Muslim world an opportunity to fall in love with Jesus, he said.

Those people need food, hospitals, housing, clothes, education for children, jobs training for adults, clean water, waste-treatment plants and other support services crucial for life and health.

It’s “missions for big people,” Haas said.

“We’re in a battle against time,” he noted. A major concern is “the radicalization of youth,” which makes refugee camps recruiting grounds for terrorist organizations.” Do we see this as an opportunity, a burden, or don’t really care? Times make us to chose and our God does to. Let’s ask Him.

Is God possibly calling us to be His hands, ears, heart voice for displaced people? Let’s search His heart and word together. Many of us have nations built on immigrants. What is God calling you to do?

Leviticus 19:33–34; Deuteronomy 10:17–22; Deuteronomy 24:17–22; Deuteronomy 26:5–13; Psalm 146:8–9; Matthew 25:35–40).

So should we just ignore them? Should we close our hearts and borders for fear of unknown or possible terrorism that may come from their hand? Should we shun them even though many of us came from the immigrant once that made our free land? Do we care or are we desensitized? They can be valid questions to ponder but are they the right ones? Not according to God’s command. He’s challenging us to care. Then why should we turn a blind eye to their needs?

It was 1913, and my grandmother took a ship from Poland to reach Philadelphia in America. She was 18 years old and full of high hopes of a better life. Gram was poor back then but a good Catholic lady who worked hard for her family; 12 hour days shifts in the sewing sweat shop in Quakertown, PA. Dad ate potatoes every day, perogies, potato pancakes, potato fries; mashed potatoes; and he walked uphill both ways to school for miles with holes in his shoes. Well, that is at least what Dad told me. He was raised by his sister who was 9 years older cause gram was too busy earning a living to feed 9 hungry mouths, six growing boys and three girls. My middle class wealth growing up came from past generations working their butts off! Polish immigrants were looked down upon by the Irish in Quakertown but that didn’t give my father a complex. He worked his way up the corporate ladder first as a factory worker then as a manager and boss, and then as a Human Resources head between workers and union. My great grandfather on mothers side came to America because he wanted freedom to worship his God. He was a ship captain in Riga, Latvia. So without them braving the seas as an immigrant I’d be in Poland or Latvia or Germany. Who knows where I’d be, what I’d be doing but I have so many opportunities because they left their nations. I may never have many if they stayed.

When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress or mistreat him. ‘But the stranger who resides with you shall be to you like someone native-born among you; and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.”‭‭LEVITICUS‬ ‭19:33-34‬ ‭AMP‬‬

According to these verses, we are not to just tolerate the foreigner or refugee, but love them as yourself and this was the law even before the cross. Think how much more we should love them with the cross behind us and before us. In fact how about with Jesus love?

You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall not harm or oppress any widow or fatherless child. If you harm or oppress them in any way, and they cry at all to Me [for help], I will most certainly hear their cry;”‭‭EXODUS‬ ‭22:21-23‬ ‭AMP‬‬

God put their care in same category as protecting orphans and helpless grieving widows. Should not we?

It was the year 2008 in the stormy winter rains of Cape Town, South Africa when the violence started. It was scary news. Especially because the refugees some had come to be my friends. A wave of xenophobia (fear, violence, and rage toward the African international foreigner) took over South Africa. Looting and burning of businesses of the foreign African in impoverished communities became the norm over South Africa. Fires, theft, beatings, bloodshed drove them out. Some people in wealthier and middle class areas took in the families into their churches, army camps, campgrounds. The excuse for the raids: They steal our jobs. It was said, They bring poverty. But I believe most of the violence came from the hidden pain of the past, violence begets violence. and many feel justice and opportunities never came to the black townships. Apartheid’s wounds is still open with salt poured in; it still aches with the effects of institutionalize racism and disparity between black poor and white privileged. The pain of past and present realities is showing in student protests, service delivery violence, and the deeper wound is starting to be uncovered. Before it was reconciliation has happened so let’s not rock the boat. Now the past reconciliation was cheap so let’s go beyond and give us true restitution. Now we are only starting to talk. And a wound uncovered can’t begin to heal if all pain and infection starts to get removed. So how do we go from here for the refugees though. (Even though most escaped war and walked miles over difficult dangerous terrain to come, even though most work hard and accepted jobs under their skill level for less wage, there just ain’t not enough room for the two of us! ) They have no right to be here so we need to push them out, it was said. Businesses were burnt and the foreigners driven away from the townships. Not that it is the right way. It was a cry of desperation for those who did the violence. But what is our response? How can we help bring healing, not judge but see violence turned to peaceful activism to bring hope and restitution but hold accountable those who bring violent hate? It’s complicated they say. But the reality for the refugee then in 2008 was that they had also no calm place to call home again. Retraumatized. Left out in the cold literally. So then they sought refuge in tents, tents that blew down in Cape Town winter storms and leaked. It was more trauma for an already traumatized people. The refugees again were displaced and became refugees again where they sought safety. Yet people pitched in to care for them. So many people gathered to help them; that the winter I worked in the camps with clothes sorting, food distribution, and English tutoring. I got 12 colds and flu and struggled through that winter but they had it the worst. So glad that year was over, never to be repeated. I worked in a necklace workshop for Burundi refugees for 6 years and it was good to do it, hard to hear their stories of pain, rewarding to see them find the love of Jesus. It was Job creation and sharing His love.

So the refugees also became hopeless who were pushed out. This was the headlines that day. I went to visit one camp close to us with a Somali refugees and as I entered the camp unknowingly I entered into a riot in progress with police using rubber bullets just before that to stop the chaos as Somalis tried to break down the gate to get in the camp but it was full already. The were pushed back from the gate and I was let in to help the people in the camp. The refugees were wanting to escape the country for fear for their lives so threatened authorities to drown themselves in the ocean if they could not get a ticket out to a safe place. It was sad but they did not carry out their threats thank God! Manipulation? Some said it was. Or Desperation? Or both? Glad they did not carry out their threats. What would call for such response of trauma? What would cause us to turn a blind eye. Desensitation. Manipulation. Victim mentalities we scorn. But what is the right response? What is Gods heart? Some of the cycle of violence came because the oppression of apartheid not resolved. Today the refugees are mostly back in their homes and things are quiet for the most part. But refugees face persecution and are despised still at times here.

He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the stranger (resident alien, foreigner) by giving him food and clothing. Therefore, show your love for the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall fear [and worship] the LORD your God [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect]; you shall serve Him and cling to Him [hold tightly to Him, be united with Him], and you shall swear [oaths] by His name.” DEUTERONOMY‬ ‭10:18-20‬ ‭AMP‬‬

I had the privilege to visit Berlin and help Syrian refugees a couple days when they were arriving en mass. The crisis broke my heart So when I was in Europe for a conference and knew I had to do something that October 2015. I volunteered to sort piles of donated clothes the Generous Germans contributed and gave out water. I was happy because I knew no German but some Arabic which which I could use because I lived in the Middle East a decade back. The volunteer work was an initiative called, Give back to Berlin. I never saw any country like Germany that opened her heart to refugees. I so love Merkel; what an amazing lady when it came to offering hospitality to the stranger.

For the LORD your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe. He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the stranger (resident alien, foreigner) by giving him food and clothing.” DEUTERONOMY‬ ‭10:17-18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

When I was ever helping with refugees I never saw more of a abundant response of communities both in Berlin and South Africa giving freely away nice clothes and food items. This is one way of God’s provision. One thing that made me laugh was the instance an Arab man was confusingly looking for a certain size shoes in the Berlin refugee Centre. I was helping and only knew Arabic and the other lady helping only knew German. I without German in Berlin, first time there, could help and get him the size he wanted cause I knew Arabic but I could not let the German worker know what I was speaking. She was confused but the man went away happy with big shoes! The nations are helping the refugees and it is Gods care for them in a start.

But do you know God is drawing them? In an Arab nation, I helped with an inductive Bible study where Muslim Syrians were discovering themselves the beauty of Jesus and his radical claims. Many open up and have dreams about Jesus and come to know him in other nations. Before they never could hear. They weren’t as open. God is moving them, drawing them in the midst of the evil war to call them to Him, the Lover of their souls.

Refugees comes from every education and profession. Most Zimbabweans I met work here as waiters and waitresses forsaking at the moment their professions to make money. I met those who are teachers, pharmacists, businessmen but humble to work wherever they can find with a smile on their their faces. Syrians are doctors, nurses, teachers, businessmen wanting to start life again and they can add to society. That’s credibility. They have goals and good dreams. We must recognize the majority of terrorist attacks in Europe and America did NOT happen from a refugee. Yes it’s true probably even from ptsd madness attributing some, a few lone wolf attacks did happen. But for the majority of attacks were not refugees and they were living in those nations as citizens or permanent residents. Trauma is real and the traumatized can continue the cycle of violence so how can we bring healing to them, to nations who come to live amongst us.

Will you be their friends? Will you teach them your language? Will you show them where to shop, how to send their kids to school? Are you able to meet them for a coffee to find out how they are? Are you able to enjoy their children? Are you able to give food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, clothes to the needy; it may be Jesus you are serving and they may never get to hear about Him in the nations they come from. You can do that, hospitality you show every day to Friends and strangers. You may be the first Jesus they see. And you will see Him reaching out!

Case study Examples to get to know your nation’s immigrants ( if a US citizen for example) of their amazing foreign contributions economically in USA, to put a reality to the people you see now in a nation. (Challenge for other nations: look up your nations immigrants and their contributions.)

Immigrants make up significant shares of the U.S. workforce in a range of industries, accounting for over 41 percent of all farming, fishing, and forestry workers–as well as nearly 25 percent of those working in computer and math sciences. As workers, business owners, taxpayers, and neighbors, immigrants are an integral part of the country’s diverse and thriving communities and make extensive contributions that benefit all. One in eight U.S. residents is an immigrant, while one in nine residents is a native-born U.S. citizen with at least one immigrant parent. In 2015, 43.3 million immigrants (foreign-born individuals) comprised 13.5 percent of the national population. The United States was home to 21 million women, 19.8 million men, and 2.5 million children who were immigrants. The top countries of origin for immigrants were Mexico (27.8 percent of immigrants), India (5.5 percent), China (4.8 percent), the Philippines (4.6 percent), and El Salvador (3.2 percent). In 2016, 37.2 million people in the United States (11.7 percent of the country’s population) were native-born Americans who had at least one immigrant parent.Nearly half of all immigrants in the United States are naturalized citizens. 20.7 million immigrants (47.8 percent) had naturalized as of 2015, and 8.4 million immigrants were eligible to become naturalized U.S. citizens in 2015. The majority of immigrants (71.8 percent) reported speaking English “well” or “very well.” Immigrants in the United States are concentrated at both ends of the educational spectrum. More than one in four adult immigrants had a college degree or more education in 2015, while almost the same share had less than a high school diploma.

The United States is home to nearly 690,000 active Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients. Approximately 689,800 active DACA recipients live in the United States, while DACA has been granted to about 800,000 people in total since 2012. As of 2016, 68 percent of DACA-eligible immigrants in the United States, or 886,814 people, had applied for DACA. An additional 398,000 people in the United States satisfied all but the educational requirements for DACA, and another228,000 would be eligible as they grew older.

Nearly one in six U.S. workers is an immigrant, together making up a vital part of the country’s labor force in a range of industries. 27.2 million immigrant workers comprised 16.9 percent of the U.S. labor force in 2015.

Even if a refugee or immigrant can’t contribute to a society because of lack of opportunity poverty or raising a family, do we have any right to shut them out if God calls them in. The cost of any man has so much intrinsic incredible value no one can deny so let’s measure their worth by what God says and their place as God would see them. The earth is moving. Are we letting them into our world? Are we even called to immigrate to another nation to tell them God loves them and died because they are unlimited valuable!

Can there really be peace on this earth?

Instead of bronze I will bring gold, And instead of iron I will bring silver, And instead of wood, bronze, And instead of stones, iron. And [instead of the tyranny of the present] I will appoint peace as your officers, And righteousness your rulers. Violence will not be heard again in your land, Nor devastation or destruction within your borders; But you will call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise [to God].”ISAIAH‬ ‭60:17-18‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The question should be can there be peace on earth NOW in this life? Does it matter because people are so full of animosity, rage, conflict, bitterness, anger so it’s quite futile. Should we hope or begin to try live it? Is it even remotely possible?  Is it in the grand design? We know before the Fall; there was peace, everything was quite right, pure, undefiled, innocent, peace with man and God, intimacy and extasy. But now you don’t have to look far to know that that peaceful day and age is a faint and very distant storybook memory. We are just too far gone. Perhaps? We sigh and lament with the Psalmist, “Too long my soul has had its dwelling With those who hate peace,” PSALM‬ ‭120:6‬ ‭AMP‬‬.  So we surmise it cannot be done, peace in this world. But is it possible no matter if we don’t see it, like faith? It is the evidence of things unseen, but hoped for. “Dominion and awe belong to God; He establishes peace and order in His high places, “JOB‬ ‭25:2‬ ‭AMP.  He does it in high places first, then on earth as it is in Heaven maybe. D‬‬o we stop short in our hopelessness to write off  what our God wants, ultimately desires and came to bring us through the sacrifice of His beloved Son, Jesus? Maybe we all want peace cause it’s etched forever the longing in our DNA! Do we leave the dream of peace to the New World Order, Miss Universe pageants, New Age coventions, Ghandis gurus, or the UN peace accords? Why aren’t we redeeming it and taking the lead cause we have VIP relationship tothe Prince of Peace? He can do above what we ask or imagine. So why are we sitting and judging the world?  Do we dare believe this? We have the ressurection power of Christ who came to set the world on a right path so why do we throw our hands up in futility! Restoring all life through bringing His peace wasn’t the world’s idea but God’s!  Let’s have a wake up call! We serve the Prince of Peace. We let it get warped, shallow. Maybe we dropped the ball. We just live in fatalism, there will be war and rumors of war so let’s just let them die?! No, Jesus came to give life and life to the fullest and He desires no man to perish. This is thinking without God in mind.

Peace we see is surface-cheap we say and pain just pushed under the carpet of broken histories of the nations. True. What will we do about it? The treaties are held onto with a thread. What role do we play as Gods ambassadors or diplomats? Do we feel it’s time to pursue it, dream it? Or is the world too darn messed up? How? Let’s ask the one who dreamed it up!

How can their be peace if there is no justice many are asking now? There can’t. We need to see the pain and plight of the marginalized and fight for them in a productive way, not judge them for justified anger but be part of the solution. Where have we allowed unjust systems to cause violence or oppression to the marginalized? Where have we been silent or complicit. Promoting peace is fighting for justice passionately and peacefully and being a voice for those who have none. Jesus fought for the downtrodden, the poor, hang out with the prostitutes turned worshipper, Samaritan lady with a questionable past from a hated racial group to the Jews, hung out with once corrupted tax collectors. He specifically called those left behind to Himself, those forgotten and from different backgrounds. He took the rough like Peter and called them to ministry. Where are we not seeing people? How can we be peacemakers and befriend those different then us, a different race, culture, political view, religion and share the tender unconditional love of Jesus? Jesus was biased that he called the poor to Himself. Do we have a heart to reach the poor? Do we have a heart to also befriend those people groups like refugees, single parent household families, different cultural or racial groups that often don’t have as much opportunity or privilege as us and walk with them, learn from them, see their beautiful faith that brings them far in life, champion the prisoner who just got out wanting to change his life? Jesus Kingdom also tells in this life is not fair and we need to leave justice also up to God who will make all things right in the end but until then fight in a healthy way for His kingdom on earth.

We sigh, and shake our heads. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, and too many peace treaties we broke, too many times we cried racism, injustice, oppression, darkness overtaking, too many wars fought, too many genocides, gang wars, bitter divorces so why try? The next life we say, it may happen, another time or reality. Treaty after treaty was broken in peace process in Middle East. There is too much pain, injustice in these things. Who will make it right? But at least the governments still try. What are we doing?  Do we even pray anymore for Syria or North Korea, or Palestinian Israeli conflict? Congo rebel war continue still and has  for decades. Afghanistan and Somalia explode weekly. Terrorism crosses Europe each month.

We sigh with another massacre of gun violence that takes out American high schools, concerts, and clubs quarterly. We shake our heads at George Floyds death saying that is wrong, but pretend there is no problem that makes disproprtionate wrongful death by authorities. But most police are good we say. True but did we look at the systems, the pain, behind them. Now is time. Its not a right or left problem but a system from history set up to oppress minority groups, who was set up inthetime of slavery where the constitution once stated African Americans were 3/5 human. We cant let dehumanization of African Americans, Native Americans, refugees, Hispanic, Asian, those of different culture or race than some of us. What can we do about it? What is the is the use to negotiate, peacemake, write our Senators, pray, peaceful march in the goal? The liberal too over all those marches anyway we say and I stand for the Right Conservative. Even so, can you not see Jesus marching the midst with His own sign, “God created all men equal so lets treat each man that way. I am for the downtrodden, oppressed, poor, broken, those who suffered violence. I am that voice and will bring healing and justice. I am the answer! ”

Get rid of all guns in the world?  I’d love that one! Crime would go down. And police officers with bad intent couldn’t kill so quicly in a split decision. ( When you live through a war one starts to despise guns or live by it and I lived through one in the Middle East two years.) But a heart of violence is the point, not only the weapons used.  Nuclear race gossip surges out of North Korea and Iran. Syria has ISIS and chemical warfare thrust upon it from hands of Assad. Enemies on all sides and no one knows who the good guys are!

But, what is the shalom in the heart of God, whole, lasting,  healing, alive peace? Now we are talking, but that’s impossible?  Where is it found? Whereas we sometimes limit the idea of peace to the absence of conflict, shalom includes far more. It comprises notions of wholeness, completeness, soundness, and prosperity. The Psalmist sings, “Those who are gentle and lowly will possess the land; they will live in abundant peace” (Ps 37:11, literal translation). God’s promise of blessing to Israel through Isaiah uses similar language: “I will make your towers of sparkling rubies and your gates and walls of shining gems. I will teach all your citizens, and their peace will be great” (Isa 54:12-13, literal translation). This is not a cheap peace but peace at the cost of the Son’s punishement: true redemption, forgiveness, salvation of whole nations. What does God’s original design and restoration look like today? Why do we long for freedom from the violence anyway? Should we use what happens in our world as the standard or the Word of God? Lots of questions need to be asked, wrestled with, asking for keys desperate for His kingdom to come and His will on Earth that is in Heaven. God created the world as a place of peace: justice, harmony, fellowship. Through the end of Genesis 2, peace prevailed in God’s good creation. (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/markdroberts/series/seeking-the-peace-of-christ-christianity-and-peacemaking/ #zkuTflajsyfmYEVS.99

But why is Peace illusive? Yes sin entered the world, and violence had upper hand ever since the start of it.  But is that the end of the story? Do we stop looking, believing? Why does the world speak more of world peace then believers? Why did we take Our hands off what God desires and fed it to the birds? Why do we piously not care and say well when you here if rumors of wars we should get excited cause Jesus is coming soon. Yes He is but what are we doing about the lost? People are dying without Jesus in these wars and do we care at all? We say we do? Do we pray like it, share like it or go to these places to let them know? How will they know if we don’t tell them? What does God imagine?

My friend told me the gang wars have gone into months now in Manenberg, a township near Cape Town an hour from my house.  She wrote on her Facebook wall yesterday which brought me to tears, and highlighted the injustice and disparity at times at the dire situations of  the townships in South Africa. Gangs bring a form of acceptance to youth who know broken families, drugs, and unemployment. What will change this?

It feels like I’m living in the valley of the shadow of dead and not just walking through. Daily people are dying by someone’s else’s hand now its a child that was taken and killed not far from her house. Perpetrator could be anyone and probably is someone close to the family or family or someone you would never have imagined. Lord intervene like you did in the olden days cause the whole of manenberg is effected. So many deaths in one place it is sickening. Lord please draw a line in the sand and put an end to these senseless killings and deal with those who are commiting these acts with eager feet’s. Lord you are a gracious God but yoi are also the Lion of Judah.” It’s a plea of a mother, of a community, to end the senseless violence. Does God hear and join that cry?

But my friend also spoke of this place in its pure redemptive way in her confession to me when she moved back there.  She said there no other neighborhood she would like to live. When there is no gang violence and they are in truce; she lives the vibe. The children play joyfully in the streets, the happy music jamming, the old ladies gathered down the road laughing at their grandchildren and neighborhood gossip. The old men play cards. The friends gathered together joking laughing full and great community unlike the stoic white neighborhoods. The character of Manenberg comes alive. Now isn’t that what God intended?

you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.” Isaiah 58:12

I lived through real war and it’s total survival mode. Hard to think about much else. It’s even difficult to focus on a loving God accept desperate prayers and asking futile questions like why friends are dying or trying to escape machine gun fire, reliving the trauma of the situation. You cry out to God but it’s hard to get on with thriving in His promises. And not to mention the anger at loss of those you love. It’s hard going. There is a cry of desperation that may go out to Him in war, but some get more hardened. God wants to bring His peace (freedom of death and destruction) to allow people to breathe, to see a healing loving God. ThecPrince of Peace is drawing people to Him through even war in Syria, but it is NOT His heart and will! He uses it but wants us to bring His kingdom to earth by establishing His peace. He cries for the brokenness of war.

How do we with the Father help bring Heaven to earth? What does it mean? Don’t we need to stop guessing and we get to know His heart in this matter. “Who will devote Himself to be close to Me?” He asks us. Let’s come closer and hear His heartbeat. Don’t we need to see how He sees, cry the tear He cries to come to a place of healing? What does Heaven look like? Some say Heaven is always worship and praise to the King of Kings. And it is. Others focus that there is no more pain and suffering. And there is none.   Some boast of the intimacy, love, fellowship, we have with the Father and Nations.  And it’s truth. Others dream of unity in diversity of all nations getting along and looking to Jesus. It will be a great reunion of saints some utter, full of beauty, creativity, never boredom, love, joy, dancing, singing, sports for some who glorify God that way perhaps, fun, celebration and parties, wedding feast, perfect love. Some emphasize the Laughter there. Others long for the things places color, crystal seas, golden archways, beauty and Adventure. Sapphire skies. What is God’s heart for His people and the earth? Simply it says in His Word, for us to seek the Kingdom and bring it to earth, intercession, worship, unity to live it out right here and now among the nations in unity with each other.  So what do you think is heavenly vision for the nations?  It reiterates over and over in Gods Word that Gods hates violence and bloodshed, murder, strife and division that keeps us apart. Does God desire anyone to die separated from him. So let’s encourage peacemakers! Let us ask God how we can be a voice for those without a voice and stand for justice, befriend those different from us, hear their stories of pain, have compassion, learn from those we once didn’t understand or had prejudice. God requires it and it builds the kingdom. Every tribe and tongue will stand before Hod. Are we befriending more of the tribes and tongues because we will spend eternity together worshipping our king. When it was ordered in Old Testament the world was too far gone and even though His gave a million chances to return and repent; He gave them over to their own choices and let the violence chosen engulf the people RARELY. And the people call their own violence upon themselves and with their choices over and over. Like in the flood, Genesis 6:11-13 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken falsehood, Your tongue mutters wickedness. It’s not Gods heart in trial with allowing war but our hearts on trial as we shed innocent blood on their defiled altars.(Isaiah 59:1-8) Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken falsehood, Your tongue mutters wickedness. Yet God of the universe desires healing of the land.

Yet what is the redemption beyond the hostility? In Christ’s ressurection power we can be vessels of His healing love for the nations.  Our mandate is reconciliation as we bring it to earth not to bask in futility of the task and sigh and say this side of the Heavenly curtain it can’t be done. But Christ pull away the curtain the wall of separation for just this reason! It can be done; reconciliation was finished at the cross and His  ressurection we can implement on earth, steward it. We may say what’s the use God said in last days there will be war and rumors of war. It’s true. But it is not the purpose of His beautiful lovely heart to allow the world to be in a state of perpetual violence?  We know that but our religious cinasysm binds us. Jesus broke down the wall of hostility. It’s not a nativity but what we should want and long for and dream of and implement as well, in (Ephesians 2:12-18), 12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. The Lord says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

This picture is painted in the cemetery of Christ church Jerusalem, a testimony of Fl Gods heart for reconciliation in a conflicted city.

God cries out for the day His earth will be fully restored. And we can play a crucial part.”~‘Behold, [in the restored Jerusalem] I will bring to it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them an abundance of peace (prosperity, security, stability) and truth. ~‘I will restore the fortunes of Judah and the fortunes of Israel and will rebuild them as they were at first. ~‘I will cleanse them from all their wickedness (guilt) by which they havesinned against Me, and I will pardon (forgive) all their sins by which they rebelled against Me. ~‘Jerusalem will be to Me a name of joy, praise and glory before all the nations of the earth which will hear of all the good that I do for it, and they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace (prosperity, security, stability) that I provide for it.’ “Thus says the LORD, ‘Yet again there will be heard in this place of which you say, “It is a [desolate] waste, without man and without animal”–even in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without animal– the [sound of the] voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the [song-filled] voice of those who say, “Give praise and thanks to the LORD of hosts, For the LORD is good; For His [steadfast] lovingkindness (mercy) endures forever”; and of those who bring a thank offering into the house of the LORD. For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were at first,’ says the LORD. Surely this prophesy speaks of a perfect tomorrow for Jerusalem. But could it be in the present making and restoration? Isaiah 62:7 implies yes, Give the LORD no rest until he completes his work, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth. That’s the earth not some other dimension. So both becoming and not yet. We through a glass see Him dimly but one day will see Him. We need to practice and imagine hope against hope and not give up or in cause our God does not!~‘In the cities of the hill country, in the cities of the lowland, in the cities of the South (the Negev), in the land of Benjamin, in the places around Jerusalem and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hand of the one who counts them,’ says the LORD.”‭‭JEREMIAH‬ ‭33:6-11, 13‬ ‭AMP‬‬

God desires no man encounter violence in him or against him.  Do not envy a man of violence and do not choose any of his ways. Proverbs 3:31. God hates violence. He labels it corruption of mankind. Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence.

In a blog on the Word and peacemaking, we are urged, “Bible-believing Christians can almost forget that Jesus was the one who blessed the peacemakers, and therefore we had better figure out what this means so we can join them. (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/markdroberts/series/seeking-the-peace-of-christ-christianity-and-peacemaking)

So how did Jesus live out peacemaking? He told us to love our enemies and while we were still His enemies He died for us. “Yet God had a plan to restore his shalom on earth, a plan focused on the life, death, and resurrection of his Son, the one who fulfilled the role of the Suffering Servant of Isaiah. “(www.patheos.com/blogs/markdroberts/series/seeking-the-peace-of-christ-christianity-and-peacemaking/#zkuTflajsyfmYEVS.99)

“In the Old Testament, peace is also inseparable from righteousness and justice. These latter concepts are embodied in one Hebrew word that connotes right-relationship between two or more parties. This word is usually translated as “righteousness,” referring not only to doing morally correct deeds, but also to living rightly in relationship with others. Righteousness is also closely connected to justice, because the righteous person acts with justice in the civil or judicial sphere. The necessary link between righteousness and peace can be seen, for example, in Isaiah’s vision of a future day when a righteous king will reign over Israel and God’s Spirit will be poured out upon the people: Then the wilderness will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will become a lush and fertile forest. Justice will rule in the wilderness and righteousness in the fertile field. And this righteousness will bring peace. Quietness and confidence will fill the land forever (Isa 32:15-17, ://www.patheos. com/blogs/markdroberts/series/seeking-the-peace-of-christ-christianity-and-peace-         making/ #zkuTflajsyfmYEVS.99) Gods peace brings justice and righteousness. It’s complete, not partial like temporary peace of the world.

In biblical perspective, therefore, the absence of conflict is only the bare beginning of peace. True peace includes personal wholeness, corporate righteousness, political justice, and prosperity for all creation. That’s exactly the way God intended things to be when he created his garden, his paradise. (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/markdroberts/series/seeking-the-peace-of-christ-christianity-and- peacemaking/# zkuTflajsyfmYEVS.99)

How do we bring peace? Actually Jesus brings the peace and He does in and through us. “He makes peace in your borders; He satisfies you with the finest of the wheat.” ‭(PSALM‬ ‭147:14‬ ‭AMP‬‬) So ask Him; look to Him. Punishment that brought us peace was upon Him. ( Isaiah 53) And how beautiful it is when we walk this mountain and proclaim peace and say our God reigns. He does it, He did it, and we proclaim it. He is the Prince of Peace. What do we do with the mandate to be peacemakers and ministers of reconciliation? Pray for it. Seek peace of the city. “~‘Seek peace and well-being for the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf; for in its peace (well-being) you will have peace.’”JEREMIAH‬ ‭29:7‬ ‭AMP Worship God over it to declare His Sovereignty. Check your own heart, racism, predjudices, unforgiveness. Ask God where He wants to use you in your families, communities, nations? Ask God to use you as a reconciler, peacemaker, mediator. “And the seed whose fruit is righteousness (spiritual maturity) is sown in peace by those who make peace [by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals].“‭‭JAMES‬ ‭3:18‬ ‭AMP Love well. Forgive first. Ask where you can stand in the gap for offenses of nations in prayers and word and deed. And seek Him more. He will do it. It’s on His heart. Believe you can be a history maker with Him in this area, to bring Heaven to earth seeking Him. Meet with government. Blog. Don’t disengage thinking peace is illusive til Heaven cause Jesus asks us to pray His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Find out where conflicts lie. Study it. Pray for solutions. Take a conflict resolution course, study how what when? Read the testimonies about nation healing like what happened in South Africa in 94, or Rwandas forgiveness today, or many others presently tobrcome a nation builder. God desires it and wants to reveal His wisdom and will and use you! Be available. Believe the impossible is possible because God dreams it and wants it no matter how illusive it has looked. Just go get on with the peace work! “Blessed [spiritually calm with life-joy in God’s favor] are the makers and maintainers of peace, for they will [express His character and] be called the sons of God.” ‭‭MATTHEW‬ ‭5:9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

God so desires unity to know His deep love more, and He will and can do the impossible! “To me, [though I am] the very least of all the saints (God’s people), this grace [which is undeserved] was graciously given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the good news of the incomprehensible riches of Christ [that spiritual wealth which no one can fully understand], and to make plain [to everyone] the plan of the mystery [regarding the uniting of believing Jews and Gentiles into one body] which [until now] was kept hidden through the ages in [the mind of] God who created all things. So now through the church the multifaceted wisdom of God [in all its countless aspects] might now be made known [revealing the mystery] to the [angelic] rulers and authorities in the heavenly places, in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him [that is, our faith gives us sufficient courage to freely and openly approach God through Christ] For this reason [grasping the greatness of this plan by which Jews and Gentiles are joined together in Christ] I bow my knees [in reverence] before the Father [of our LordJesus Christ], from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name [God–the first and ultimate Father]. May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality], so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been [deeply] rooted and [securely] grounded in love, be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the width and length and height and depth of His love [fully experiencing that amazing, endless love]; and [that you may come] to know [practically, through personal experience] the love of Christ which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without experience], that you may be filled up [throughout your being] to all the fullness of God [so that you may have the richest experience of God’s presence in your lives, completely filled and flooded with God Himself]. Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”‭‭EPHESIANS‬ ‭3:8-10, 12, 14-16 AMP

The Beautifully Diverse Bride of Christ; Unity and Intimacy Splashed together in an Array of Color!

Listen! My beloved! Behold, he comes, Climbing on the mountains, Leaping and running on the hills! “My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he is standing behind our wall, He is looking through the windows, He is gazing through the lattice.

“For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. ‘The flowers appear on the earth once again; The time for singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. ‘The fig tree has budded and ripens her figs, And the vines are in blossom and give forth their fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, And comeaway [to climb the rocky steps of the hillside].’” “O my dove, [here] in the clefts in the rock, In the sheltered and secret place of the steep pathway, Let me see your face, Let Me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your face is lovely.”

“Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that spoil and ruin the vineyards [of love], While our vineyards are in blossom.”” SONG OF SOLOMON‬ ‭2:8-9, 11-15‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Hear the God of the Nations call her. Arise my love. The Shepherd Groom searches for His Bride, for those He paid a great price to redeem, recrown. He peers through the shaded windows of our heart, calling us closer. He sees us and we behold Him through a glass dimly but one day…. we will see Him truely as He is. Glorious beautiful holy pure He is and she reflects  His radiance like sunlight diamonds on the sea reflects the sunrise. Known and fully loved by her Courter. He gazes over the lattice on tip toes, the walls that hide us from Him and He will stand amazed at this wonderous bride! She is lifting up out of the ashes, crowned with grace and mercy. She is enamoured by His sweet love!

Yet what do we see when we look at His bride, His church and the Nations? Do we stand amazed or frustrated, annoyed, disgusted, or hating how the Bride looks? Are we at fault at our perceptions and labels? We want to dress her to our own culture, preference, denomination. Did we make her ugly that way with our bigotry, fear, hurt, racism, conflict, violence, offense, judgement, separation? Did we ever even think to ask ourselves that question?

We sometimes don’t act chosen, beloved. We pull our hair out often before the wedding and during the ceremony and reception. We are perhaps are the Runaway Bride or the Bridezilla at times in our love of Christ and others in this ceremony of life,  or perhaps even the jealous bridesmaid, always a bridesmaid never a Bride, looking at the gifts and beauty of others, loathing them. But the Groom stands committed to make us like Him, for her to reflect His beauty, to know His deep committed love for us and the nations, a unified holy Bride.

If we manage to capture a glimpse His ravished heart for His Beloved, we see Him gasping to catch His breath. He embraces her as He beholds her in awe in a spectrum of shining glory and lavish diversity. But that diversity is unified, loving all parts of itself, free, whole, alive, creative! He wants a ravished, focused Bride pursuing what He loves, standing in complete unity. But that is far from what we have, the arguments, conflict, bitterness, pride stands in the way. We find a Bridegroom though in love with the One He’s pursuing, determined, unrelenting to draw her, call her out among the cliffs. Let me see your face and hear your voice, for your voice is sweet and face is lovely. Catch the foxes of division that ruins the vineyards!  Do we know the bride fully or do we want to see the bride in all her beautiful array of shining glory, standing in her identity as Christ’s redeemed Beloved. Our view of loving diversity can sanctify, can even call lost Brides in of unreached peoples as we see His heart loving longing and reaching out to ALL people’s of the earth. We must ask God for Hus eyes, His heart for the part of the bride we may not prefer or like. We must stand with our brothers and sisters across the world, across denominations, across all boundaries of our earth. Then we must long for Rev 7 on earth,

After these things I looked, and this is what I saw: a vast multitude which no one could count, [gathered] from every nation and from all the tribes and peoples and languages [of the earth], standing before the throne and before the Lamb (Christ), dressed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands; and in a loud voice they cried out, saying, “Salvation [belongs] to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb [our salvation is the Trinity’s to give, and to God the Trinity we owe our deliverance].” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the [twenty-four] elders and the four living creatures; and they fell to their faces beforethe throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and majesty and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might belong to our God forever and ever. Amen.”” REVELATION‬ ‭7:9-12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

How rich I am and truely experience to have brothers and sisters I can get to know from Egypt, South Africa, Zulu, Sutu, Khoi San, and Norway, Palestine, Egypt, Iran, South Korea, Figi, America, France, Switzerland, Germany, Ethiopia, and Holland. How fun to laugh at jokes with a Khoi, sing with a Norwegian, dance with a Brazilian! How lovely is it to chat and have coffee at the home of a Palestinian with deep conversation about live, life, and family. Or visit an art museum with my French friend as she sees a type of beauty I don’t. And the afternoon tea with my English friend and chat is oh so divine. My Sudanese refugee friend will teach you how a business can be run and greet you as if you were her long lost family. It is more than a privilege to see more of Who God is through these people of His bride, to worship with them in the diverse Christian organization I belong to. ..  I also get to see God pursue the Malay and stop by anytime for a tea and bite of home cooked samosas.  I love to meet and chat with others God loves and pursues like the precious Syrians, Saudi Arabians, Sudanese, Libyans Burundians, and Israelis. I know it won’ t be complete for me or even a fuller reflection of the character of my God the Groom to not have Palestinian friends at the cost of only Israelis. He loves them. He pursues them. Both their passion and perseverance has taught me so much.  All these will worship the Lamb at the feast and I get to know them before that! I caught a greater glimpse of the diverse beautiful bride and I stand in aweand humbled. But where am I afraid or too prejudice to meet another, to love another that is what I ask myself in my own neighborhood. I know many don’t have a chance to meet this many from other nations. Yet look for them. The world is moving to the rest of the world and your neighborhood. Maybe it’s the family in your church from a different people group, education, social- economic class to find His expression. Maybe you need to pursue a Muslim friend or a Hindu. Maybe you need to pray for the persecuted church from North Korea or a “lost bride” from Yemen.

Every nation reflects a piece of His heart and as we see all the Bride of Christ in all it’s array of splendor, creativity, beauty, expression of culture and worship and diversity we come to know more of our Beloved Jesus. It’s not some like the Western or the Indian or the South Korean but the Syrian, the North Korean, the Mongolian, the Venuwatuan.

Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true [supreme and sovereign] God, and [in the same manner know] Jesus [as the] Christ whom You have sent.

I have given to them the glory and honor which You have given Me, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected and completed into one, so that the world may know [without any doubt] that You sent Me, and [that You] have loved them, just as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given to Me [as Your gift to Me], may be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, because You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” JOHN‬ ‭17:3, 22-24‬ ‭AMP

He wants us to discover the beauty of unity of other cultures, of the uniqueness of our brothers and sisters in many nations. Lets know His beautiful heart more, to see Him alive and amazing! We are to delight and sigh when the bride enters. We must make her ready. When we hold people at arms length animosity or distance from seeing and valuing other believers or cultures we miss more of the total expression of wonder, diversity and glory of our King. To love Him is to love His bride of many shades, cultures, nations.

We miss this unity and intimacy he so desires with us by not beholding her, the epitome of breathtaking love because of the Lover who has taken her over. He’s calling us to see Him and the beautiful bride He is forming pursuing loving. He’s calling us to call her out, get to know her, prepare her, redeem her through His perfect love.

Will we call the Bride out of every culture background, broken or unbroken. God is offering those who are thirsty. Will we love the unlovable and people, cultures, nations, enemies, prostitute, religious, stubborn, fearful led to be His while bride as we walk them down the isle with affrection and love. Here’s a song about Gods pursuit through us partcof His diverse Bride. Let’s call them to intimacy and rejoice in diversity. And let’s not forget those who forgot their worth and value and have run from Gods live song, Let’s sing it to them. Here’s a song that reflects His heart of pursuit for the prodigal bride.

Prodigal Daughter

I see her wander round, princess without a crown, stumbling and falling down beneath her burden.

She’s floating through my town, a bride without a gown, passing her heart around to numb the hurting.

She’s scared of coming home, she’s been so long alone , She sat upon her throne until it crumbled.

And now she’s got to choose, she’s nothing left to lose, She’s battered and she’s bruised and feeling humbled, and saying her prayers to no one.

Chorus:

Who is her brother, who is her keeper? Where is her Lover, can anyone reach her?

A cup of cold water in the name of the father, I’m sending a letter to the prodigal daughter.

So where is the reward for all the ones who mourn, for those who suffer scorn and have no father?

Maybe the blessed are cursed, maybe the last are first, maybe the ones who thirst will find the water.

Her lover sees inside, he sees with lover’s eyes, He sees a radiant bride with passion burning,

Everything upside down, her rags become a gown, Her scars become a crown at the returning~~ Lyrics by Andrew Smith ~~

Hear Him pursuing her. You must listen to this amazing Song of the Story of a Bride broken being made whole. Jesus died for her unity, delighted in our diversity and calls us to do the same and hear our love pursuing us. Let’s take care of her vineyard. And tend to her beauty. The Sun has kissed her from her sweat and tears and labor. His love is calling and drawing.

“Dark am I, and lovely, daughters of Jerusalem— like the black tents of the Kedar nomads, like the curtains of Solomon’s palace. Don’t stare at me because I’m darkened by the sun’s gaze. My own brothers were angry with me. They made me a caretaker of the vineyards— but I couldn’t care for my own vineyard.” ‭‭Song of Songs‬ ‭1:5-6‬ ‭CEB‬‬

““O my love, you are altogether beautiful and fair. There is no flaw nor blemish in you! “ Come away with me from Lebanon, my [promised] bride, May you come with me from Lebanon. Journey down from the top of Amana, From the summit of Senir and Hermon, From the dens of lions, From the mountains of leopards. “You have ravished my heart and given me courage, my sister, my [promised] bride; You have ravished my heart and given me courage with a single glance of your eyes, With one jewel of your necklace.”‭‭SONG OF SOLOMON‬ ‭4:7-9‬ ‭AMP‬‬

It’s going to be a lavish and awesome celebration feast of the wedding of the Lamb, so let’s celebrate our differences and diversity and love the Body of Christ. It is our worshipful temple for eternity.
“The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, believers) say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take and drink the water of life without cost.”

First born here; First Nations people. Why are they the heroic humble we cannot afford to ignore? They are our forgotten foundations we stand on, the people when they are blessed a whole nation can be blessed and free. Isn’t it all our redemption to honor them, to cover the wounds of their fallen? How can we bring healing to the nations through this and bring healing and restoration?

And your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up and restore the age-old foundations [of buildings that have been laid waste]; You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.” ‭ISAIAH‬ ‭58:12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Living in South Africa 14 years, I’ve come to love a special people group. My leader of our organization comes from this tribe and many of my friends and those I reach out to come from this hospitable, flexible, funny, overcoming, bridge-building, passionate people the Khoi San. Over the years at reconciliation conferences in South Africa and America, I found First People’s story and oppression of the past were discussed and acknowledged and some healing has taken place but I saw the lack of hearing about reconciliation of Native Americans within America. Yes it is happening but more stories need to be heard. Whether it’s the Dakota oil pipeline that is being protested by many Indiginous American and still voices remain unheard of the First People out West in America of the sacredness of that water and land. Or whether it’s hearing and memorializing places and people in the past slaughtering or battles that wiped out whole communities.

The Jewish people honored their firstborn. We must too. We as the Immigrant descendants came later to these places so it was not ours so we must make amends, restitution, and hear the stories and honor those lost and those speaking out! We must help give voice to the many who have seen oppression, been plagued by alcoholism and drugs in townships in South Africa, violene, poverty, and gangs, numbing some of the pain of past injustices. Land torn apart. People scattered. Treaties broken. Tricked out of safety and land. Disease came in to kill off whole populations with the Europeans. Don’t end with the guilt. What can we do to start healing a nation again and be part of the amends and restoration?

So I researched the people group that lived on our land of my childhood where I grew up in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. My grandparents were poor immigrants from Poland and great grandparents on mothers side from Latvia and Germany. So we were not settled on this land generations but had many acres of it, 6 acres by fact. The Lenape lived here in their incredibly warm for winter and cool in summer wigwams built the Thohicken creek. I found history I never heard of in school, the gory betrayal and deception of Pennsylvanian government. The next lines are very gory and vivid but to reveal how things are still covered up and need of healing of atrocities I decided to copy the story. If you are from anywhere much less a Pennsylvanian or a Christian  it should shock you. Moravian missionaries shared the love of God with Beloved Lenape Indians and they were persecuted for defending and helping the Native Americans. The Lenape that came to know Jesus gave up their arms in nonviolence resistance. Here is the story,

But this wasn’t the end of the road for the Indians. During the Revolutionary War, in September 1781, British-allied Indians, primarily Wyandot and Lenape, forced the Christian Indians and missionaries from the Moravian villages. They took them further west toward Lake Erie to a new village, called “Captive Town”, on the Sandusky River.

The British took the missionaries David Zeisberger and John Heckewelder under guard back to Detroit, where they tried the two men on charges of treason. The British suspected them of providing military intelligence to the American garrison at Fort Pitt. The missionaries were acquitted.

(Historians have established Zeisberger and Heckewelder did keep the Americans informed of the movements of the British and their Indian allies.)
The Indians at Captive Town were going hungry because of insufficient rations. In February 1782, more than 100 returned to their old Moravian villages to harvest the crops and collect stored food they had been forced to leave behind. The frontier war was still raging. In early March 1782, the Lenape were surprised by a raiding party of 160 Pennsylvania militia led by Lieutenant Colonel David Williamson. The militia rounded up the Christian Lenape and accused them of taking part in raids into Pennsylvania. Although the Lenape denied the charges, the militia held a council and voted to kill them. Refusing to take part, some militiamen left the area. One of those who opposed the killing of the Moravians was Obadiah Holmes, Jr. Among his observations of the incident was that “one Nathan Rollins & brother had had a father & uncle killed took the lead in murdering the Indians, …& Nathan Rollins had tomahawked nineteen of the poor Moravians, & after it was over he sat down & cried, & said it was no satisfaction for the loss of his father & uncle after all”. After the Lenape were told of the vote, they spent the night praying and singing hymns.

The next morning on 8 March, the militia tied the Indians, stunned them with mallet blows to the head, and killed them with fatal scalping cuts. In all, the militia murdered and scalped 28 men, 29 women, and 39 children. They piled the bodies in the mission buildings and burned the village down. They also burned the other abandoned Moravian villages. Two Indian boys, one of whom had been scalped, survived to tell of the massacre.

The militia collected the remains of the Lenape and buried them in a mound on the southern side of the village. Before burning the villages, they had looted, gathering plunder which they needed 80 horses to carry: furs for trade, pewter, tea sets, clothing, everything the people held.

Although there was outrage over the massacre, no criminal charges were ever filed. However, the lesson was neither lost on the Indians, nor forgotten.

It is genocide equal to Rwanda or wars in Congo. Scandalous sickening bloodshed that should bring us to utter shame at our history. So i had to say something so something even little because I was distraught at the discovery, in utter disgust and anger at my states people. I was totally shocked and  I felt compelled to do anything, something, to repent for the Pennsylvania government that committed this horrible atrocity no matter how long ago and how small an action. They were innocent, peace loving, God seeking Lenape and slaughtered by PA militia, to be forgotten. They were mercilessly slaughtered in a in a church where peaceably praying and worshipping! If I can document this story to represent the need to hear the stories of the First people, listen to their voice, hear their wisdom of caring for the land, the beauty of their patience and peace loving heart; then I hoped to deposit a small drop in the bucket of healing. Tears come as I write this. Let it be healing teardrops for the Lenape people, for the Khoi San, for the Noma first people who stayed with Me during a Nations2 Nations conference in South Africa. We want to hear your precious voice, songs, languages, culture, heart! We want you to know the Love of Your Creator, healing of your youth, stories of the first days in your ancient lands we came lived and invaded. Your hospitality is great and you let your land become ours even though tricked out of land treaties and stolen by blood at times. We are sorry; we owe so much restitution, love, our very lives.

There we reflect Jesus. ‭‭So I found out the Lenape nation website and wrote to one of the chiefs and asked for forgiveness on behalf of the Pennsylvanians who did this atrocity. I told him I valued this story and felt a need to be greater memorial.  I want their story to be heard more and a greater acknowledgement and restitution of this event and others which lead millions to die and be pushed out of their region most to Oklahoma.

To my surprise a chief wrote back and replied. Thank you for this message. You do me great honor. He spoke about being an honorary Lenape whatever is that great honor which I was unsure. But wow, he was touched that I just took time to hear and acknowledge. Hearing stories is important for healing. That’s why we have memorials after people we love die and it starts the healing process. But there was no restitution or admittance of criminality. That is so sad. Our government should take time to acknowledge, admit great fault for those days long past, acknowledge atrocity and criminality to start, because it keeps us stuck  in no ability to fully heal. Also I felt a need as a Christian to repent for the ways that the Lenape in that massacre felt deceived by the white settler. He came to accept Christ, live in peace and not retaliate and he was slaughtered unable by conviction to act back in violence. I love this about Moravians, Mennonites, and Quakers. It would give the people though a bad taste in their mouth for fear it would happen again to be placed in a church and killed, women and children. I hate any violence; I lived through a war so I hate guns and warfare. So I would of taught the New believers the same way, loving enemies. The Lenape were peaceful mattered for faith and their culture. I see those 96 who died that day. I hear their blood that cries out for restitution, acknowledgement, more justice, restitution. This was a crime against humanity; this is greed and insanity of barbaric land thiefs.  But it was a small act of acknowledgement but hopefully a drop of healing in their bucket of tears. Do we see them? I know I can more.

This is a drop in the bucket of stories of war, and massacre of First People. And I tried to write Pennsylvanian government to get a response and see if more of a memorial and remembrance could be set up with no response. But we all can be a voice in some way and the teardrops will fill a bucket to bring living water to heal oppression of the past.

Share this story and find out about First People where you live on their land, whether your ancestors pushed them off or not, befriend them, learn their stories, and gain from their wisdom, listen above all, understand, receive their love and hospitality. And give it back in restitution.  Acknowledge injustice. Don’t be silent. We can bring His healing to broken lands as we see where we defiled lands, people.

Native Americans were portrayed as bitter merciless warriors in my textbooks growing up. What about yours? Many are and were peace loving dwellers of the sacred lands they loved but became desperate and fought to survive which many did not due to war and disease and land being stolen from and pushed out and slaughtered. My university team I ran with were called the Red Raiders. Yet there was a protest at the name at the end of my BA degree. And rightly so. It was not the Native people who raided but the European settler and colonizer! Let’s get this straight! I know why my alma mater now named our mascot the Shippensburg ships getting rid of raider connotation. It is only right. But a ship doesn’t sound fierce enough to wn a game. Oh well.

When I helped in a refugee camp in Jordan one summer for Syrian refugees a few years back giving out blankets, mattresses, food and teaching sewing for work for ladies I met lovely people with lost dreams stolen who mainly lost their men in the war. Over tea and popcorn they offered us as it was barely what they had, they poured out their heartbreaking stories of their miracle escapes, of utter survival, of the recounts of where they lived and how they escaped, the bomb shelled pictures of their once stunning homes as many were wealthy before, and what happened to their missing husbands, fathers, uncles, or child victims of war. The most important thing and often only response in the moment was when visiting listen to their stories. You may not have words, but by listening to their stories gives them meaning dignity, healing, and restoration to pain. That they are seen and heard by a loving Savior too. There tears put into a bottle. Who will be around to hear them, see them? God can use you. When Hagar was forced to the desert, God told her that her son will live and He is the God who sees her, really sees her. The One who wipes tears from her eyes. Who do you need to see? It’s a start and if no one hears them then the cold piercing pains remunerate over in people’s heads with echo and no release. We can hear. Open our ears and hearts to cry with them. We can love. We can be Jesus compassion and heart. God will give leaves that will be healing for the nations. Will you be part of what He’s growing.

Fruit trees will grow all along this river and produce fresh fruit every month. The leaves will never dry out, because they will always have water from the stream that flows from the temple, and they will be used for healing people.”

Also we can be His healing hands of bringing redemption to nations so they may be able to hear and see their Savior and no offense and bitter root obstructs their way to see Him our beloved Savior who died for our sins to cover offense, violence, bloodshed and to restore dignity, destiny, identity.

“In the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. There will no longer exist anything that is cursed [because sin and illness and death are gone]; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve and worship Him [with great awe and joy and loving devotion]; they will [be privileged to] see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be night; they have no need for lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign [as kings] forever and ever.”REVELATION‬ ‭22:2-5‬ ‭AMP‬‬

God is highlighting this topic of reconciliation and justice in North America and among indigenous groups . This months article in Soujourners magazine called Becoming Unsettled spoke about these initiatives. You can create your own. Elaine is the author.

Do we see Radical Love and Hope growing in our broken nations? At the same time, are we devestated by the the barren fields of bloodshed, violence, and injustice?  Paradox of worlds collide, peace and violence. We want to see Eyes through the lense of the Father, the Prince of Peace, the God of Revolutionary Restoration!

Jesus ministry was to bring peace, break hostility, make two enemies once divided one, God to man and man to man. He gave us the ministry of reconciliation. “For He is [Himself] our peace (our bond of unity and harmony). He has made us both [Jew and Gentile] one [body], and has broken down (destroyed, abolished) the hostile dividing wall between us, By abolishing in His [own crucified] flesh the enmity [caused by] the Law with its decrees and ordinances [which He annulled]; that He from the two might create in Himself one new man [one new quality of humanity out of the two], so making peace. And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of Hiscross, thereby killing the mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end.”Ephesians‬ ‭2:14-16‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

He came to make peace through His sacrifice between man and God! And He came to reconcile with one another, even enemies. Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations. You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. Instead of bronze I will bring you gold, and silver inplace of iron. Instead of wood I will bring you bronze, and iron in place of stones. I will make peace your governor and well-being your ruler. No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.” (Isaiah 60, NIV)

We prayed this desperate prayer in tears sometimes over a few years in Israel during the intifada war that started September 2000 lasting 6 years. But it has stopped. People are not dying as much, but there still radical injustice and protest and no resolutions and people precious to God are still dying. Can there be any peace there, lasting peace?  Should there be ever according the Gods Word? People told me who are Christians, ” isn’t it exciting end times; war is happening and scripture fufilled in the Middle East?” How could that be so far from a loving pursuing God who sent Jesus to die for ALL the world. And if it’s the end times why aren’t you seeking out the lost, the sick that need a healer as His spokesman and ambassador of hope? We should be marked by offering hope to people not doomsday scenarios. How warped is that? Yes I know,  in the world’s plan there is not a true or clear way to peace, but with Jesus he came to bring reconciliation, life to fullest, shalom, salam!

What’s in His heart, his strategy? We know in Heaven full restoration, but what about asking God to bring this Heaven to earth. NOW. War will arise the end times, but God redeems even in the midst of mans violence when He’s called upon. But it is NOT His will. This life of reaction to violence, terrorists with motives or no motive slaughtering in minutes 58 people plus hundreds injured! Guns in classrooms; even of Christian universities now. What is the world coming to to to try to defend ourselves? The radical love of the gospel can transform even terrorists. Read Son of Hamas.  It’s a story of a terrorist radically saved and changed to be a peacemaker! What a testimony. Look at Paul; Saul the terrorist persecuting Christians now Paul our fearless leader drawing me to be guided by the Beloved Lover of even enemies! I know men who were once the most feared gang leaders in communities on drugs and alcohol sober up and meet Jesus on that same road Paul did with a vision in the bush I am not nieve; living through bitterwar marks you a bit. I know many more solutions to heal the Palestinians and Israeli conflict are needed. All attempts failed. Tanks -missiles -suicide bombs -protest abounded. And there we stood.

What’s our role as ambassadors of peace and reconciliation? God called us to visit places bombs went off to pray healing, forgiveness, and reconciliation between Jews and Palestinians. I travelled with international colleagues and friends who had F 16 from Israeli retaliation bomb near their home in the West Bank. So we reflectively and with soberness drove across the country.  We walked and interceded in places of devastations past. It wa hard. Solutions are still elusive in the peace process. Could it be the peace process of man with a God’s intervention in the Middle East takes root to stop people who are dying without Jesus as He desires no one to perish?  They can not then see the bitterness of war but the hope of Gods reconciliation. But to help guide them on a arduous road to healing, life, hope justice and safe land to call home. What is on Gods heart to ever happen to glorify the Prince of Peace. We prayed for the Peace of Jerusalem. Are you believing for healing in the nations so people can experience Jesus. In constant trauma it’s hard to recognize Him at times.  So Jews and Arabs find reconciliation. Through the blood of Jesus, two become one. There is no Jew or Arab and they are one Body! How can we live it?

Could there really be healing of warring nations? World is full of war, injustice, poverty, human trafficking, violence.  Could a nation really be saved in a day? We saw it happen and see it present and past.  We must be believing and looking. It is happened before why not again? He says we will do greater works then we even saw Jesus do and we know it’s only through Him working, but He wants to use us, our prayers and love in Him! Case study in pointof of the peace miracle only 2 decades back. South Africa 1994. Bloodshed and turmoil was predicted before the first democratic election at the end of apartheid. God brought leaders to gather the people to pray in stadiums across the country. Violence was averted! The election was full of hope and peace. Unjust apartheid was abandoned and Nelson Mandela, sweet Madiba as they called him, brought the nations together to heal grow and forgive. The world even declared it a miracle. God used lovely believers committed to reconciliation and leadership to meet with the leaders of the nation like Michael Cassidy. Miracles were reported in His book, A Testimony Forever.

Truth is new problems from old unresolved racism, inequality, and poverty injustice are rearing their ugly heads from an oppressed history. These waves of protest, poverty, gangs, violence, domestic abuse and rape were the consequence coming these days resulting from the fruit of past oppression of apartheid to this day. Restitution unrealized and reconciliation not full. Pain pushed under the carpet. White privilege and pushed down pain of the rainbow nation is unfolding through the discontent of the young. Anger and rage is bubbling up out from under the surface reconciliation claims. . But does God want to continue to heal, bring restitution, healing deep lasting reconciliation, creative jobs for the poor, opportunities for underprivileged to study their dreams, the children in gang infested townships to find that violence with no longer be heard in the land. Pain is surfacing again, disparity between rich and poor growing, corruption scandals abound. But hope is rising; the nation has so many good fruit of diversity, NGO s helping the nation, churches awakening to pray on farms in the millions even though they don’t always represent each people group. Segregated neighborhoods need to bbreak down. God is healing the nations.

It says in His Word, ““Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, marked off the heavens with a [nine-inch] span, enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance? Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as His counselor has taught Him? [Rom. 11:34.] With whom did He take counsel, that instruction might be given Him? Who taught Him the path of justice and taught Him knowledge and showed Him the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket and are counted as small dust on the scales; behold, He takes up the isles like a very little thing. All the nations are as nothing before Him; they are regarded by Him as less than nothing and emptiness (waste, futility, and worthlessness). To whom then will you liken God? Or with what likeness will you compare Him? [Acts 17:29. It is God Who sits above the circle (the horizon) of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; it is He Who stretches out the heavens like [gauze] curtains and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in, Who brings dignitaries to nothing, Who makes the judges and rulers of the earth as chaos (emptiness, falsity, and futility). Yes, these men are scarcely planted, scarcely are they sown, scarcely does their stock take root in the earth, when [the Lord] blows upon them and they wither, and the whirlwind or tempest takes them away like stubble. To whom then will you liken Me, that I should be equal to him? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see! Who has created these? He Who brings out their host by number and calls them all by name; through the greatness of His might and because He is strong in power, not one is missing or lacks anything. Why, O Jacob, do you say, and declare, O Israel, My way and my lot are hidden from the Lord, and my right is passed over without regard from my God?”‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:12-15, 17-18, 22-27‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

So we don’t see how world pain and war can cease. But we see God working in the midst and wanting to bring Heaven to earth! Are you hearing the battle cries turn to finding a loving God wanting to rescue?  Syrian refugees all over the world and Middle East are open to the love of God and have see Jesus, coming to know the Lover of their souls in droves through their need of Him.  “This is the way GOD put it: “They found grace out in the desert, these people who survived the killing. Israel, out looking for a place to rest, met God out looking for them!” GOD told them, “I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love! And so now I’ll start over with you and build you up again, dear virgin Israel. You’ll resume your singing, grabbing tambourines and joining the dance. You’ll go back to your old work of planting vineyards on the Samaritan hillsides, And sit back and enjoy the fruit— oh, how you’ll enjoy those harvests! The time’s coming when watchmen will call out from the hilltops of Ephraim: ‘On your feet! Let’s go to Zion, go to meet our GOD!’””Jeremiah‬ ‭31:2-6‬ ‭MSG. The pursuit of God of broken war torn people started with His precious Jewish people and continues that all nations be blessed. He desires none to die without HimThe underground church is growing in persecuted countries like Iran and North Korea. My Iranian friend testified to me this week, “So many worshipped Jesus of my friends ( in Iran in the underground church) so I had a witness of God but was empty. I hated religion and despised the authoritarian regime and did not believe in God. But now Jesus showed me His love. I have joy, hope freedom! ” in North Korea, open doors said 39% of the people are underground believers worshipping Jesus. Let’s pray for them, for protection, reconciliation so war does not wipe them out. South Korea wants reconciliation with the North, believers pray it every day there in tears. Pray for their freedom without conflict and join your brothers and sisters in both North and And South Korea believing for this change to bring peace and unite the Koreas in a free regime. Why not believe the world as we represent Him as ambassadors of peace shining His light in darkness can He not bring Heaven to earth. It’s not always the way we think and we see through a glass dimly of His ways and strategy. And He uses the pain in the world to draw men to Him! Why not NOW, the nations healing, Jesus glorified, the government is on His shoulder our Prince of Peace. Why bring peace? Why be peace makers. When nations start to reconcile and repent, then the darkness that keep the nation in fear and bitterness opens up with His love. Can a nation be saved in a day? Will we chose to stand in the gap as God searches to and fro over the earth for a man who eyes are fixed on Him? Who will devote themselves to be close to Gods heart for nations, for shalom, healing and wholeness?

““And when that happens”— GOD ’s Decree— “it will be plain as the sun at high noon: I’ll be the God of every man, woman, and child in Israel and they shall be my very own people.” This is the way GOD put it: “They found grace out in the desert, these people who survived the killing. Let’s go to Zion, go to meet our GOD!’”

“Hear this, nations! GOD ’s Message! Broadcast this all over the world! Tell them, ‘The One who scattered Israel will gather them together again. From now on he’ll keep a careful eye on them, like a shepherd with his flock.’ I, GOD, will pay a stiff ransom price for Jacob; I’ll free him from the grip of the Babylonian bully. The people will climb up Zion’s slopes shouting with joy, their faces beaming because of GOD ’s bounty— Grain and wine and oil, flocks of sheep, herds of cattle. Their lives will be like a well-watered garden, never again left to dry up. Young women will dance and be happy, young men and old men will join in. I’ll convert their weeping into laughter, lavishing comfort, invading their grief with joy. I’ll make sure that their priests get three square meals a day and that my people have more than enough.’” GOD ’s Decree.
Again, GOD ’s Message: “Listen to this! Laments coming out of Ramah, wild and bitter weeping. It’s Rachel weeping for her children, Rachel refusing all solace. Her children are gone, gone—long gone into exile.” But GOD says, “Stop your incessant weeping, hold back your tears. Collect wages from your grief work.” GOD ’s Decree. “They’ll be coming back home! There’s hope for your children.” GOD ’s Decree.

“I’ve heard the contrition of Ephraim. Yes, I’ve heard it clearly, saying, ‘You trained me well. You broke me, a wild yearling horse, to the saddle. Now put me, trained and obedient, to use. You are my GOD. After those years of running loose, I repented. After you trained me to obedience, I was ashamed of my past, my wild, unruly past. Humiliated, I beat on my chest. Will I ever live this down?’
“Oh! Ephraim is my dear, dear son, my child in whom I take pleasure! Every time I mention his name, my heart bursts with longing for him! Everything in me cries out for him. Softly and tenderly I wait for him.” GOD ’s Decree. “Set up signposts to mark your trip home. Get a good map. Study the road conditions. The road out is the road back. Come back, dear virgin Israel, come back to your hometowns. How long will you flit here and there, indecisive? How long before you make up your fickle mind? GOD will create a new thing in this land: A transformed woman will embrace the transforming GOD!”

A Message from Israel’s GOD -of-the-Angel-Armies: “When I’ve turned everything around and brought my people back, the old expressions will be heard on the streets: ‘ GOD bless you!’… ‘O True Home!’… ‘O Holy Mountain!’ All Judah’s people, whether in town or country, will get along just fine with each other.”

“I’ll refresh tired bodies; I’ll restore tired souls.”

‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31 MSG‬‬

What walls need to crumble in our world? What walls need to fall in our own hearts?

Walls. Cold. Hard structures. Warning: No trespassing. No entrance by law. Looming in finality. Towering above. Some restrictive. Some foreboading. Why do we have them? We construct some to simply keep our families safe, deter nosy neighbors from looking in, and to keep the thieves out. But in my neighborhood alarms and security forces need to be hired above just building walls. We put up the locked gates to keep our little children from wandering away. The reason may be cause our jack Russell got lost too many times, and we were tired of the neighbors calls and worrying about him and it’s all good until he digs again under the fence and gets out. For now at least our kids and dogs are kept from going ” walk about” and can freely play together without abduction. We console ourselves walls are safe. Or are they? We build the high walls and elaborate fencing with barb wire to place boundaries of nations but nations keep changing borders and new nations fall and rise. And terrorists get in and are within. For the most part we try to keep unwanted trespassers and terrorists of other nations out. But are we successful with stopping terrorism the last two decades? We place the highest walls on prisons with the most dangerous convicts but even they escape sometimes. What the point?

“And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes) So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us.”(‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:26-27‬ ‭AMPC‬‬)

Good boundaries should make us seek after God. He made them good. He wanted us to feel loved, free from abuse and violence, protected. But what about the walls that could be detrimental to love, life, hope, relationships?

Other walls are bad and we know it. Walls of our hearts that refuses intimacy to go deeper with those we love. We shut them out. And therefore are lonely. We constructed walls that shun people who are different than us. We stereotype other cultures and put them armslegth or farther away. Yet when we do this, we lose out on discovering the diversity of more who God is when we refuse to associate with other people’s because all nations hold an expression of its Creator. The richer we are the more people of different cultures we know! Maybe these walls shut us in because of fear or we just don’t care. We all have walls, even ones that keep us from giving or receiving love. What are your walls? How will you with God allow them to be deconstructed?

The West Bank Wall

This wall stood right down where I used to live, but when I stayed in Bethlehem it was not there. The war ( 2nd Intifada ) was in full force but no wall stood in this city. It came later. Marathon runner whizzes past in Bethlehem in recent times as this race is now run there every year.

“The West Bank “separation barrier” or “security fence” or “apartheid wall” or “anti-terrorist fence,” depending on whom you ask, is the largest infrastructure project in Israel’s history. Twelve years old this April, it costs Israel an annual average of $260 million for maintenance.” (It was a very expensive wall indeed.)

Construction of the barrier commenced on April 14, 2002, at the height of the second intifada, when then–Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered it as a measure to protect Israelis from Palestinian suicide bombers. From the moment construction began, Palestinians protested its route, 85 percent of which runs east of the Green Line, which marked the 1967 boundary between Israel and the West Bank and East Jerusalem.”

Are walls good? Maybe they are for some reasons. Healthy boundaries are needed in life. We need to protect life; they can keep us from abuse and danger in this fallen world. Yet the walls I am talking about are often a consequence of negative reaction to not get hurt again to protect ourselves and families. Most safe neighborhoods around the world may not have any!

“It matters little what they are called – walls, barriers or fences – the intention is the same: to redefine human relations into “us” and “them”.

The Walls of Shame series is about division, and about the barriers that men erect, in calculation or desperation, to separate themselves from others, or others from them. When diplomacy and conciliation fail, this is the alternative, and not since medieval times have walls been so in demand around the world.” (23 Jul 2016 15:21 GMT | Middle East, Palestine, Occupied West Bank, Aljazeera.com).

What walls of shame do you have? An estranged family member? A hidden fear that keeps you from living? A complete prejudice that keeps you trapped inside your community? A justified offense that made you enraged to hate a group of people? Afraid to hurt again or crime to happen again or violence or abuse?

What does Jesus says about division and separation? Did Jesus love walls? Or did He come to break them down and keep us safe at the same time? He is our refuge and strength an ever present help in trouble; therefore we are not to fear even if the earth gives way and falls into the heart of the sea! But we do still fear. He helps us.

This picture was drawn by my friend who works with Jewish people and is married to a lovely Arab man. It sits in my study.

And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of His cross, thereby killing the mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end. And He came and preached the glad tidings of peace to you who were afar off and [peace] to those who were near. [Isa. 57:19.]”‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:14-17‬ ‭AMPC

The veil was torn down. God brought peace and ended the battle lines that marks us and keeps us scarred. He gave His life to break the walls of the temple that held us back from relationship with the Father. And that separates us from one another. So His light can come into the darkness. The hostile dividing wall He did not mean to stay. He abolished it. Like Jericho walls it fell. So what are we to do in our world. Hummus ( chic pea yum) is better to be made then walls. Bridges should tower over not walls. Jesus said love your enemies , bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate youand pray for those who persecute you. Not easy but worth the sacrifice. Jesus made the sacrifice of dying for His enemies to make us friends of God!He wants to free us from bitter entrapment and fear of our enemies and win them over and maybe just maybe to reconcile to friends!

I love the way City Life Church in Melbourne Australia explains Jesus’ heart in these words about the previous verses,

“In New Testament times the Jewish priesthood tried to separate themselves from the nations and create an exclusive faith community. However, in doing this they violated their call to be a blessing to the nations (Gen 12:3) and a house of prayer for all nations (Is 56:1-7). Instead they built physical, cultural and mental walls that prevented other nations finding God. A physical symbol of this xenophobic attitude at the time of Christ was a low 1.5 metre high partition that separated King Herod’s temple in Jerusalem from the large outer court that surrounded the temple. Only Jewish people could enter the temple. The outer court was the court of the Gentiles. Inscribed in pillars on the partition wall was an edict that banned foreigners from entering the temple courts under the threat of death. It is this wall that Paul is talking about in Ephesians when he writes the above verses.

Drawing on the symbolic picture of Herod’s temple, Paul is making the bold statement that in and through Christ it is possible to break down the walls that separate family from family and nation from nation and find true peace. Jew and Gentile are one in Christ.

Christ is both peacemaker and wall breaker, and as his people we should be too. We are Christ’s body called to preach the good news of God’s peace across every cultural and social barrier, to every nation and every strata of society. Our feet are prepared with the gospel of peace (Eph 6:15). We are to go and seek out people of peace (Lk 10:6) and the peace of the city (Jer 11:19). Preaching the gospel is likened to a message bearer running down the mountain to a city to bring news of peace (Rm 10:15). The biblical concept of peace (Shalom) is not just a state of mind, nor is it simply the absence of conflict or the opposite of war. Biblical peace is the wholeness, completeness and well-being that comes about through restored relationship. It requires the active process of breaking down the walls that separate people from God, community from community and nation from nation.”

The Destruction of The Berlin Wall.

After 2.7 million citizens had fled East Germany between 1949 and 1961, it took the Berlin Wall, the Iron Curtain, armed border guards and a tightly controlled administration to ensure the remaining 17 million stayed within the country’s boundaries. It is incredible to think that, after 12 years of rule under Hitler, another dictatorial regime and administration was to unfurl over the then Soviet Occupation Zone and last for a further 40 years. The East German dictatorship permeated all aspects of the lives of its people and it was up to the Stasi to ensure Communist ideology was adhered to, not least by appointing a huge number of informants, some 190,000 in fact, who spied on their fellow citizens so possible escapes or attempts at uprising could be thwarted. Its job was also to recruit and train the next generation of Stasi staff. ( The Telegraph UK, By Robert Hopkins, 11:25AM BST 15 May 2015)

This wall crumbled in 1989. I visited the remnants in October 2014. The outdoor memorial brought me tears of sadness of loss and joy of triumph that fateful day it fell. But how did The Berlin Wall come down. It started simply through prayers of peace from the East Germans.

“What many don’t realize is that this protest movement all began with a prayer group.

In the early 1980’s, an East German pastor in Leipzig with the unlikely name of Christian Führer started a Monday night prayer meeting at St. Nicholas Church, where a handful of Christians prayed for peace in their freedom-starved country.

Over the years that followed, St. Nicholas Church attracted protestors of all stripes, Christians and non-Christians alike. By the time 1989 rolled around, the Monday night prayer meeting became a regular demonstration, and the numbers swelled to over 70,000 people.

The church in Leipzig became Ground Zero for protestors in East Germany, and their movement helped to change the course of world history.

And it all began with a small prayer group.”(just18summers.com) Yet so many were praying across the world. Also the fall of iron curtain. Why not Communist North Koreas barrier?

What could this tell us about walls in our lives? In the feuds of nations?

The Border between North and South Korea/ the last Cold War division left

If the other communist nation walls fell why not this one? Could this fence also fall peaceably? South Korean Christians have been praying for this for decades.

In May 2015, a joint statement of believers was made between North and South. It was a cry for healing, reconciliation, and reunfication.

“For 70 years the Korean peninsula has been divided into North and South. The Churches in North and South Korea take a common stand for peace and reconciliation. This year the National Council of Churches in Korea (NCCK) and the Korean Christian Federation (KCF) call for a joint Easter Prayer for the reunification of North and South Korea.

70 years have gone by since the joy of independence changed into pain of separation. This morning, when we remember the joy of resurrection, a voice of forgiveness and reconciliation is raised in our hearts.

70 years have gone by and still a culture of separation is among us. Facing the power of death of the armaments industries, we regret our weak faith which keeps us from following up our words with deeds.

We do not forgive each other and even fear encounters, which is an expression of our disbelief. We confess that we neither love nor trust each other.

Help us, to follow Jesus who has forgiven the crowd that called for his crucifixion and who revealed the path of salvation. After 70 years of separation, we pray that the fire of forgiveness and reconciliation will burn in our nation. Lord, lead our way.

Before we condemn others, help us to see that we ourselves are filled with anger, hate and violence. Grant us inner courage to think about the past. Perceive our secret truths and reunite us with those who suffered an unjustly death.

Grant us, who we are weak, your Holy Spirit. Help us to maintain our efforts for forgiveness, reconciliation and reunification. Amidst the despairs of death you have given us great hope through resurrection. Bring the new life of resurrection into this country of separation.

In the manner of Jacob who crossed the Yabok river and embraced Esau and danced, let us also cross the river of hate and enmity with forgiveness in our hearts to unite North and South and to wash away the tears of separation. Give our sons and daughters a vivid and reunited home country.

We believe that this path will save our nation and give hope to mankind. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who never ceases to invite us into the world of experiencing resurrection, we pray sincerely, Amen.

North Korea when it was united with the South had a great revival. As I was praying for North Korea I saw Gods Holy Spirit moving beyond these borders. It has been and will be. 9 million Christians make up 35 percent of the population. It is not as unreached as people may think because the church is growing strong!

“North Korea’s underground Christian community is thriving despite followers of Christ suffering horrific torture and brutal deaths at the hands of the communist government, according to Fox News.

According to Open Doors, a Christian persecution watchdog site, North Korea has ranked No. 1 as the deadliest place for Christians for the last 16 years. Yet, North Korea still has an estimated Christian population of around 9 million people, or 36 percent of North Korea’s total population.”

God has not forgotten North Korea nor His commitment to Korea, and hear their cries today. Amazing thing is that the North Korean Christians don’t pray for freedom as much as they pray to grow in their faith! That’s true freedom!

THE NORTH KOREAN REVIVAL OF 1907

May 2, 2017

“Today as tensions between North Korea and the U.S. reach heights not seen since the 1950s, it is easy to forget that northern Korea used to be one of the Asian strongholds of Protestant Christianity. As Atlas Obscura recently explained, the city of Pyongyang became known to missionaries as the “Jerusalem of the East.” The city had great institutional strength for Protestantism, including Union Christian Hospital, Union Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and Union Christian College, the first four-year college anywhere in Korea.

One hundred ten years ago, Pyongyang saw the outbreak of a massive revival, the high point of the season of evangelical strength in northern Korea. Presbyterian missionary William Blair preached to thousands of Korean men, focusing on their need to turn away from their traditional hatred of the Japanese people, with whom Korea had a long history of conflict. The missionaries and Korean Christians had been praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit for revival and repentance, and it came on that Saturday night in January 1907. Many at the meeting began praying out loud, and soon the signs of awakening began to appear. As one missionary described it, the sound of many praying at once brought not confusion, but a vast harmony of sound and spirit, a mingling together of souls moved by an irresistible impulse of prayer. The prayer sounded to me like the falling of many waters, an ocean of prayer beating against God’s throne. It was not many, but one, born of one Spirit, lifted to one Father above. Just as on the day of Pentecost . . . God is not always in the whirlwind, neither does He always speak in a still small voice. He came to us in Pyongyang that night with the sound of weeping. As the prayer continued, a spirit of heaviness and sorrow for sin came down upon the audience. Over on one side, someone began to weep, and in a moment the whole audience was weeping.

Man after man would rise, confess his sins, break down and weep, and then throw himself to the floor and beat the floor with his fists in perfect agony of conviction. My own cook tried to make a confession, broke down in the midst of it, and cried to me across the room: “Pastor, tell me, is there any hope for me, can I be forgiven?” and then threw himself to the floor and wept and wept, and almost screamed in agony. Sometimes after a confession, the whole audience would break out in audible prayer, and the effect of that audience of hundreds of men praying together in audible prayer was something indescribable. Again, after another confession, they would break out in uncontrollable weeping, and we would all weep, we could not help it. And so the meeting went on until two o’clock a.m., with confession and weeping and praying.

Contrition over sin and praying out loud were among the distinguishing signs of this revival, which resulted in many new conversions and additions to church memberships.

Famagusta Ghost Town, Cyprus- the barbed wire, the Turkish army and the bullets

You still can swim on these beautiful beaches and gape at the buildings abandoned here since 1974. But 43 years ago, “after years of inter-ethnic violence culminating in a coup inspired by Greece’s ruling military junta, Turkey invaded Cyprus and occupied the northern third of the island.

It was so surreal to see a place that was abandoned frozen in time around the year of my birth. So sad a sight to waste this beautiful space of Mediterranean bliss.
As its troops approached Varosha, a Greek-Cypriot community, the inhabitants fled, intending to return when the situation calmed down. However, the resort was fenced off by the Turkish military and has been a ghost town ever since. A UN resolution of 1984 calls for the handover of Varosha to UN control and prohibits any attempt to resettle it by anyone other than those who were forced out.” ( bbc.com

Nicosia is the only divided capital left in the world

I came here in 2002 and 2015 and 2016. The borders between North Cyprus and Cyprus is more open then before. I met the church hereand prayed in this beautiful ancient town for healing and reconciliation. Reunification talks did start but are halted at impasse on security.

“Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, only one capital city in the world remains divided in two. Forty years after escalating ethnic tensions and inter-communal violence across Cyprus prompted an Athens-orchestrated coup d’état–followed, five days later, by a retaliatory invasion by the Turkish army–the Cypriot capital of Nicosia is still riddled with the physical and mental scars of the West’s longest-running diplomatic dispute.

At its slimmest, the “Green Line”–the UN-controlled buffer zone that snakes through Nicosia, keeping the de facto TRNC, or “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” (unrecognized by any nation, save Turkey), and the Republic of Cyprus at arm’s length–is no wider than the hulking ramparts of the old Venetian walled city, intimate enough for Turkish-Cypriot youths peering through mesh fences and razor wire to pelt occasional marches of the Cypriot far-right with stones. At its widest, on the city’s western fringes, it swallows an abandoned airport.” ( Vice.com, Is the animosity between Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots still too great for any chance of reconciliation? Scott Oliver 1/14/2015).

How are we bridgebuilders and wall abolishers? I don’t like conflict but I love to see people love, forgive, and reconcile. I love to see cultural barriers and racist hurt healed. I long to see nations once at war healed and reconciled so they can see our good Father at work. Maybe God wants to use us as mediators of friends, family, nations? Don’t be afraid to ask Him even if you feel dealing with conflict is not your gift. It is not a gift of many but conflict is part of life, let’s not run away to not help others break down their walls. Maybe we are to be prayer warriors for the healing of nations? We can Stand in the gap to pray for violence to end that keep people from coming to Jesus or seeing a good God. We can believe and walk in our own prejudice and cultural barriers that keep us from giving and receiving blessing from those different then us to collapse? Ask the Father what He is calling you to do. How to pray for restoration and healthy boundaries to be restored? Ask Him for love for those you don’t like or understand or even hate! We can tear down together with His Spirit one stubborn wall at a time! Walls must fall!

A love that crosses all boundaries.

Ok I’ll just talk about it, the white elephants in the room. Don’t pretend they are not there. The one you squirm and ignore for keeping-the-peace-sake to get out of conversation with to find a more comfortable one, an easier person like me to relate to? Yes, who don’t you like? What group of people scares you? Europeans? Africans? English? Asians? Middle Easterners? Americans? Gang leaders? Terrorists? Teenagers? Politicians? IRS? Your X’s? We all have them ; I speak to myself as well. Who do I avoid?

Who is the enemy of your world? Do you think really they could be equal to your value? Could they possibly be completely loved of God? I’m not sure or not even a possibility! There is the chosen and UN chosen. I’m not talking about some in the group possibly known for their behavior but them in themselves?  How could they be equally loved if they wronged your loved ones or even killed many in your nation? They are all like that right? Have you been able to even consider forgiving them? Or do you care at all to give them time of day?

Was Jesus blood given for them too? Even the people you are aloof to or don’t think about? Is His blood pursuing them, or enough to cover them? How will you cross that barrier of love for your enemies?

“He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons, and the boundaries of their dwellings, “Acts 17:26

Is Jesus worth the reward of His suffering for us to bring His love to the most hated of our despised? Or the forgotten and those our culture doesn’t care about? Can His love reach as far as brainwashed young terrorists? Can it pursue those we consider unreachable? Perhaps other religions are too far from our own? People too far from redemption? Can His hand really save that far? Maybe you pondered if others are just a bit favored more than us? Jews, or Arabs maybe? Or are there people we’ve written off cause we saw them as unreachable, unchangable or too far gone? Who is yours? Should we be telling them to truth those nations who never heard, those refugees from a land we don’t know who are now our neighbors?

The tanks rolled in at 1 am, the helicopters and bullets flying all night long. I did not sleep a wink that fateful night. Anxiety of war kept me awake. Would my friends live who have houses down the road in the refugee camp? They already suffered tank fire into their homes from fighting the past year. They were the ones in the most danger. Insomnia beckoned with each trill of machine gun fire.  I prayed. I dozed a bit but jumped up with each loud  bang of tankfire that echoed over the hills and the stone walls of our apartment. All we could do is pray. But we knew He heard. Deep called to deep with the people’s cries. Which cries? Jewish or Arab cries? Does God hold each tear in His bottle? The man on the loud speaker in the distant mosque told peoole to resist the occupation in Arabic. Helicopter hum above you made you insane as you knew missiles came from those machines, and all you could hear was shooting, reving of tank engines, and the nervous angry voice over the muzzeine. It was Palestine Bethlehem early September 2001. This was my home. These were my people who’ve I’m come to love a lot. But I had people I loved on both ” sides”. We lived close the the Israeli camp near Rachael’s tomb and a suicide bomber just a young teenager had come from a nearby refugee camp so Israelis deployed their full force. And there I was, feeling in the Middle but helpless, almost numb as violence was common in these years but not the tanks. Never did we experience the terror of tanks barreling through the streets, where Jesus the Prince of Peace was born.  The shooting started as it did every third night for two hours. That was our normal back then during the second intifada( the uprising). Such is life living through war. Caught one end on the Jewish side of the checkpoint praying to avoid by miracle suicide bombs in Jerusalem time after time exploding near the New City and on the other side of the conflict the West Bank Bethlehem avoiding shooting. But it was another level now. Tanks rolling in and missiles flying past from helicopters. So little sleep and another prayer, I was to make a run for it laying low hunkering down and sprint to avoid the possible bullets from Israeli or Palestinian fire and break curfew to escape  to Jerusalem  the next day. We could leave with our permits and I was not staying had a conference in Egypt with our organization. I ducked down and ran to a friend’s house and made it unharmed and she brought me safely out the back way to the checkpoint. There was curfew but we needed to go. But my Palestinian friends could not leave and were caught in the crossfire.

Does Gods love travel across the Israeli- Palestinian divide? Does he favor one at the Denise of the other? Is His love enough to hold all people in His heart? All I know is that in that war many more could of died on both sides but God did not allow it. Un-detonated bombs were found before they exploded sometimes 10 a day on the Israeli side. And of all the tanks and bullets fired in Bethlehem the actual casualties were lower. But people were still dying, innocent on both side, many more on one side then the other, many women and children. God desires no one leave this earth without knowing Him? Do we have a burden for all, every one on every corner of the earth? Will we give our life because God loves even our enemies to die for them? He deserves the reward of giving His  precious life! How will we live? How will we pray? Did He really mean every one? “

And [He designed] to reconcile to God both [Jew and Gentile, united] in a single body by means of His cross, thereby killing the mutual enmity and bringing the feud to an end.”‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:16‬ ‭AMPC‬‬http://bible.com/8/eph.2.16.ampc

Could this mean the feud has ended and the heart of our precious God is to reconcile the two by the power and love of the beautiful cross given for  the Jew and the Palestinian?

It was Sept 11, 2001 the afternoon in Egypt. We just escaped the tanks 5 days previous in Bethlehem to fly to our conference in Egypt out of Tel Aviv. Our conference was on the last day before I was to go back to the second home I knew, Israel/ Palestine. My friend knocked on our hotel door. His face white. He spoke in shock, ” New York is under attack and the Pentegon is on fire.” We all knew where we were on that fateful day, what we were doing. My first Beloved America and my family in the Northeast were also in danger, not alone the West Bank. At first, a few Palestinians claimed responsibility but I knew it could not be their work. Besides they couldn’t even leave the West Bank due to restrictions from the Intifada. So my first home as an America was under attack and Bethlehem was in ruins? What is happening to our crazy world? And where is God? Who does He love? Who does He favor? Jews? Americans? Arabs? Palestinians? Black? White? The underdog? The oppressed? The oppressor? The terrorized? The marginalized? The terrorist even? What is our role in reaching, loving, praying for even our cultural enemies to come to know Him?

It says in Revelation 7, “After this I looked and a vast host appeared which no one could count, [gathered out] of every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages. These stood before the throne and before the Lamb; they were attired in white robes, with palm branches in their hands. In loud voice they cried, saying, [Our] salvation is due to our God, Who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb [to Them we owe our deliverance]!”‭‭Revelation‬ ‭7:9-10‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“For the Lamb Who is in the midst of the throne will be their Shepherd, and He will guide them to the springs of the waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. [Ps. 23:2; Isa. 25:8; Ezek. 34:23.]” Revelation‬ ‭7:17‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Who will worship Him around the throne? Some chosen nations? Certain civilized people? What is our attitude towards particular people or nations? Who may you be surprised standing there., the once completely veiled woman with only her eyes looking at you now sees her Savior Jesus, because she the faceless had a dream about Jesus and responded secretly in her heart last week. She worshiped him secretly until a bomb went off in Damascus and she met Him face to face. She did not find a chance to step out and tell others yet for her faith? Paul from Saul used to murder Christians. What about a young brainwashed ISIS 20 year old that also had a dream about Jesus and turned from the murder he was doing? He wanted something worthwhile to live and die for and now found the Lover of His soul. This is truth and happening as ISIS members are turning to Jesus; I heard 18 committed their lives to the Lover of lives. I do not minimize the evil of what is happening in persecution of Christians through ISIS but did Jesus die just for the righteous or the sinner, the murderer, for all not just one? Every, all encompassing, all, sinner and proposed saint? Even Our absolute despised enemies? Let’s walk closer to the Giver of life, the one who changes them, and calls us to radical love even to those we hate. Because while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

Making peace with our Enemies and our God. Could we forgive the hurt? Will we love to those who don’t deserve our love or His? What prejudice are we holding that we need to let go?

This is the post excerpt.

For the love of Christ controls and urges us and impels us, because we are of opinion and conviction that if One died for all, then all died.  And He died for all, so that all those who live may no longer to and for themselves, but to and for Him Who died and was raised again for their sake.  Consequently, from now on we estimate and regard o one from a purely human point of view in terms of natural standards of value.  No even though we once did estimate Christ from a human viewpoint and as a man, yet now we have such knowledge of Him… Therefore is any person is ingrafted in Christ He is a new Creation (a new Creature all together, the old has passed away.  Behold the fresh and new has come! But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself} and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation {that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him}. It was God {personally present} in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against men their trespasses {but cancelling them}, and committing to us the message of reconciliation {of the restoration to favor}. So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us.  We {as Christ’s personal representatives} beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor {now offered to you} and be reconciled to God. –2 Corinthians 5:18-20

IMG_1477.jpg

This is a free gift; reconciliation with the Father.  It did not come without a huge price. We are so grateful and forever indebted in thankfulness and praise! He did not count our sins against us so why do we constantly do it to others even those we love? “Again you did this; you make me mad!” We answer. “Those liberals again; the alt right!” Another check mark against your name in our book of justified anger. Anger spinning wild inside. We just won’t give in to the other side or even try to relate!

Our restoration we know came through the cross, through the precious blood of Jesus. We could never repay Him. Do we extend grace to others?   If He does not count our sins against us, should we maybe think about forgiving others? Should we we still shake a fist secretly in our hearts justifying the right  to hold in contempt of their wrongs against us? We don’t talk about our grudge so it’s ok. We commend ourselves for not breaking down. ( I can be civil; just will never let it go. )

Forgiveness is not a cheap fix; there are often no big quick solutions for deep offense, especially the type that seems unthinkable. Sometimes we draw the line on what is unforgivable ever when a murderer came for a loved one, or of a bomb blast that took a child, or of a Syrian refugee mother of 6 that lost her husband to the throes of war, or the type that sent Jesus to the cross to pay for our down right gruesome sins. Ooh but wasn’t that your sin? Ouch! Yes but how do you forgive that eventually? Forgiveness does not mean to give them free reign of our lives again especially when it could mean abuse. It could mean boundaries and suffer consequences of the sin. God could do it, forgive them, but don’t ask me. (even though He gives you the same redirection power to overcome. )You sigh. But thats unthinkable, too difficult. Easy for you to say. What if you can’t but can you afford the knots in your stomach it causes if you never can?

But what about the easier matters? Do we carry them too with offense in our hearts? What do we do when we are simply asked to forgive a friend who did a slight betrayal of trust, or much less the angry road rage guy who cut us off?

What do we do with people who our culture has taught us to hate and not trust in?  How do we view them?  Cut them off.  Ignore them.  Treat them equal but at a distance cause I don’t have anything in common with them. Why should we be the ones to reach out? They owe us!   But in Christ maybe we need to, we should want to?

“For He Himself is our peace (our bond of unity and harmony) He has made us both {Jew and Gentile} one Body and has broken down {destroyed, abolished} the hostile dividing wall between us.”

You are one if you have the same Father so how does that challenge you?  How does it challenge me for that matter?  Completely and utterly! A good Patriotic American Christian reads in his well-worn Bible that God commands us to love his neighbor, when he wasn’t quite sure if that meant the Syrian Muslim family that just moved in down the street from them? What do you think? Who really is my neighbor anyway Jesus?  That refugee family was not my neighbor last week.  We were here first, what is up with these refugees taking all our jobs and threatening our security anyway?  Do we think Gods heart has room enough to carry us all in our hearts and care for us all at the same time? Then you read in your Bible the call to love your enemies.  So if he is my enemy, maybe I should love him you think. How? Why? Why should I care? Do you realize the unreached whose never heard about Jesus is moving to your neighborhood? If you don’t show Jesus to them who will? What a privilege to share Him with a souls who never heard? You retort,”They may turn on me.   How do I know they are not terrorists?” My answer pray for them, love them, and know Jesus could change them even if they had ill intentions. After all Paul was once terrorist Saul.

What about the  Black Lives Mayter movement or white supremacy groups taking over confederate parks or Charlottesville alt right rights or left; pulling down of historical figures or to other removing blatant racist symbols, what about the Democrats or those Republicans can’t be trusted. We all have opinions on this. Everyone is too divided and too set in their views. I have my own strong opinions but that is not the point.  We must ask God’s heart to love people no matter how we believe on the hot topics; our opinions do not matter! The love of God for the whole world is what matters! Justice issues are so on God’s heart to address here, of course!  But to esteem first and see what is on the precious heart of God no matter where we stand. Let’s do this thing! Let’s love all and those we have our differences. We may be right or wrong with our opinions, but what we do know for sure is He embraced and love all people and desire no man to perish.

We hear Jesus when he overturned angrily the tables at the temple and cry out, “My house shall be a house of prayer for ALL nations and you have made it a den of thieves.” (Matthew 21:12,13). He so desired desperately and in forceful action that all people are able to get to the Father to get to know His love and worship Him, nothing standing in His way.  Zeal for His house of all nations consumed Him!  Who are we looking down on?  Who are we through our own anger or prejudice are we keeping from people to see the Father.  Been convicted of this when I am at a traffic light in Cape town in my car.  I feel guilty with all the street people at the lights and I refuse to see them and become numb to most.  God doesn’t want me to cringe in guilt.  My mentor told me the other day “Why don’t you instead of feeling guilty cause you have more pray for them for jobs and provision even if money may not be right and instead ask God what to do for them and what is the right thing.”  Sometimes I feel too in a rush to do this.  But I can.  I want to.

When we look at the story of Abraham and Ismael what do you see?  Some people say Ishmael was completely rejected and Hagar was sent away in a barren desert.  But that is not what God did.  He told Hagar her son will live and He reminded her He is the God of Ishmael and He is the God who sees him and sees her plight.   I am the God who sees you.  I got to share the story with my Muslim friend and it moved her.  He sees us every last one; the one born out of wedlock and the father ran away from responsibility, He sees the refugee, the orphan, the widow, the black, white, brown, red and yellow. What man rejects, God accepts and pursues us the downtrodden, the oppressed, the lost, the prodigal.

I was so moved last week when I heard about the church in Richmond’s response to racism in Virginia; they held a town meeting and 600 pastors a week after the trauma of Charlottesville came to sign an agreement and ask for forgiveness of racism in their city and commit to healing and reconciliation among racial groups and the Body of Christ.  Wow, John 17 in action! I believe this is John 17 acted out in present day and people will see the love of Jesus and did on that day unfold before them, “That they may be One, just as You Father are in Me and I in You, that they may be One in us, so that the World may believe and be convinced that you have sent Me…I in them and You in Me, that they may become One and perfectly united, that the World may know and definitely recognize that You sent Me and that you have loved them as you have loved me.  This was true love in action check it out on this facebook page of a post by Arrabon placed on August 21 in a live recording of the historic moment.

Please post your revelations about these verses:  John 17, 1 Corinthians 5, and Matthew 21:12. 13.  We must grow from each other.
